I recall about what you do. We worked together in the fields and played ball together in the fields or barns on Sat. after noons.

I agree again. I believe it was Ralph Abernathy's book or Hosea Williams which said MLK was have an argument with a women right before he was shot. He admitted that he had a hard time keeping his pants zipped because he was away from home so much. I wouldn't want to set my theology or morals by him but he did do much on our prejudices.

We remember what we want to.

Not sure I, for one, ever said that only the South was racist. I mentioned Alabama only because that is where I lived, that is what I remember, and that is where Dr King did so much of his work in the 50-60s.

I admitted from early on that I am just now seeing Dr King's greatness in solving racial strife, despite his flaws.

I also apologised if I was the only one who is just now learning to see his greatness. I don't know about everywhere else, but when I grew up Dr King was only seen by the people I associated with as an evil man who did nothing but cause trouble.

I remember the anger and opposition when the federal government established Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday. I believe Dr King still shares the day with Robert E. Lee in Alabama.

Maybe you are the only one. Maybe a lot of us understand his message enough to be furious over how the modern liberal has twisted it an claimed it as their own. Maybe with your approval.

I am highly offended at your O/P, and find the apology suspect, at best. And I don't care what your new fan club will say about me.

    You are correct.

The amazing thing I have found from living both in the North and the South, the South actually treats blacks better than they are treated up North. (You'd think it would be the other way around, Civil War and all).

    Good grief...

One would think that C4K had accused the entirety of the BB of being card-carrying KKK members.

He simply stated his experiences as a boy from Alabama and his agreement with what Dr. Piper said regarding MLK. I was born in Indiana and spent my years from age nine up in Florida. I remember the snide comments that my parents and grandparents made about "those people". I remember the hullabaloo that was created even circa 1978 or so when my parents sold their house in their lily-white middle-class neighborhood in Florida to a black couple.

And I am thankful that today I work, go to school, eat, shop, worship, and live in a neighborhood with people of several different combinations, denominations and politicizations and we can actually get along. What a concept!

And like it or not, like the man or not, like his principles or not, Dr. M.L. King, Jr. was a positive catalyst for that change. Certainly he was not perfect, but then again neither were Moses, David, Joseph, Paul and a host of other people that God has used- including C4K, me and you.

It's no wonder our world is in so much trouble when those who are supposed to be His followers cannot do what He commanded - which is to love one another. "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples..."

"grow up and accept the truth" (in which case he references a truth that has never been debated, here) is not coming from "love".

What truth are "we" finally to accept ? It's an extremely poor choice of words. I don't remember a single person here doubting King's legacy.
