Judge Hands Down Big Ruling on Dad Who Openly Carried Gun Inside Daughter’s ‘Gun-Free

A Michigan judge has ruled in favor of a father who wanted to open carry inside of his daughter’s school — despite it being a “gun-free zone.”

According to the Detroit Free Press, Kenneth Herman sued a Clio, Michigan, school district, arguing that he was denied access to his daughter’s elementary school on multiple occasions when he tried to pick her up from the school because he was openly carrying his pistol.

Why couldn't this guy just pull his shirt over his Sidearm and carry concealed? There is a time and a place to push an agenda, and I think that this guy was wrong to do so in a school.

These types do more harm than good to their cause.

And I am perhaps misunderstanding things, but the article seems to contradict itself. In one paragraph it talks about schools being gun free zones, and in the next it mentions that carrying concealed on school grounds is legal.

Different laws for concealed and open carry.

Since when is the Constitution a "cause"?

Of course it's legal. Why would you think the 2nd Amendment doesn't apply in schools?

The judge who ruled in this disagrees.

Yes, and your point?

Again, why could he have not simply concealed carry on school grounds? It is reasonable to presume that he was trying to push the open carry agenda.

Do not misunderstand. Politically, I am just to the right of Attila the Hun. I am all for the Second Amendment. As a Civilian, I conceal carry, and I open carry when I put in my time as a Range Warden at our local Gun Club. I have absolutely no problem with anyone who wants to legally carry a firearm.

My concern is simply a matter the appropriateness of the time and place to carry openly.
