Al was/is wrong. He is an idiot. However, nobody in their right mind would say the earth is not getting warmer. It is. The real question is "why?"
Mankind only contributes 6% of greenhouse gases. The rest occur naturally. Is that enough to push us over the edge? Maybe. And maybe not.
Are there other factors in play? Absolutely. Our sun goes through an a ~500 year (from top to bottom 0r 1000 years for the entire cycle) periodic change in solar activity cycle. Right now we are nearing the top of that cycle when the sun heats the earth more than any other time during the cycle. The present cycle will peak and begin to go down in 2070. We can expect global average temperatures to continue to rise for another 44 years, then start to decline. In fact they may decline so much we go back into a "Little Ice Age" such as the earth experienced from 1400 to about 1800.
Has the earth ever been hotter than it is now? Oh yes!
