Sorry about that

The URL abbreviated itself.

"European governments hope taxing the Vatican can be their saving grace."

Is the independent nation called Vatican City a member of the European Common Market....I would be very surprised.

There are less than a thousand "nationals",it is not a democracy....rather a theocracy so the Europeans would have some issues with that. Taxing the VC would be effectively taxing every member of the church on Earth.

If that happens, how about taxing every Baptist or Muslim, Buddhist etc. This suggestion is that of a drowning man clutching at a straw.

Interesting that Catholic President John F. Kennedy, a Democrat, refused to send an official US Ambassador to the sovereignly-independent state of the Vatican City, (whose head of state and head of government is whoever the Pope may be at any given moment);

BUT,

("darling" of most Bible-believing Christians at the time) newly-inaugurated GOP President Ronald Reagan, as one of his first few acts as President submitted to the newly-GOP controlled (and much more conservative) US Senate for their approval as per Article II, Section 2, of the US Constitution an OFFICIAL US AMBASSADOR from the United States of America....

....isn't it? :smilewinkgrin:

(Oh how soon we forget the things that happened only 31 years ago! :tear: )
