In Washington, D.C., the owner of the NFL team there continues a legal battle after the United States Patent and Trademark Office canceled the trademarks of the Redskins. Amanda Blackhorse, the woman behind that case, told The Star in June that the fight would come to the Chiefs soon enough.

Increasingly, the Chiefs are insulating themselves from that fight. It’s similar to the strategy used by the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the Florida State Seminoles. It’s basically the opposite strategy used by the NFL team in Washington.

Native Americans gaining ground in their quest to educate public about traditional headdresses
“I think we have the same goals,” says John Learned, president and CEO of the American Indian Center of the Great Plains in Kansas City.

“We have an opportunity to re-engage and to understand what it is to respect cultures,” says Gena Timberman, an advisory member of Learned’s group.

As a native of Sweden, I am insulted and appalled by the stereotype portrayed by the Minnesota Vikings...

...Especially since they cannot field a decent team.

I'm guessing Joe Montana doesn't play for the Chiefs, anymore ? That's the last time I watched them. I remember the Monday night come-back against The Denver Broncos and John Elway.

What, no clever parry insulting the Packers?

If you insist....

Ya know why Packer fans like beer flavored bratwurst when tailgating before the games? So they can say they are drinking and EATING beer!

Q: Why do the Vikings wear purple uniforms?

A: Because you turn purple when you choke.

 I knew a few Cubs fans when I lived in the area. The phrase "rebuilding year" was used a lot.

It's still in use. The Vikings have been saying "we're going to be good in a couple of years" since 2009.

We are now up to "rebuilding century".

I seem to remember a story about the Cubs being "cursed". I am not sure if I am correct, but I think that it had something to do with a goat and a pub. If true, blame it on the goat.

I am not a big football fan (by Wisconsin standards), but will watch a game or two...if Mrs. Rolf makes me.

The neighbors are, though. Two are die-hard Packers fans: one has season tickets(very difficult to get), the other is simply rabid. A third is a Bears fan. I have decided that, if asked, I will back Minnesota...simply to be antagonistic.

The best time of the year here is Packers/Bears match day. The Rabid Packers guy and the Bears guy will watch the game in their respective homes with the windows open and yell across the street at each other. Good-natured of course and better entertainment than the game itself.
