If you dont want to give a serious answer - just say so.
But I am concerned about unchurched children.

    THE ROLE OF THE PARENTS:

Genesis 18:19 (God speaking to Abraham) "For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him."

Ephesians 6:4 "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

2Timothy 3:14-15 "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

Show me the NT book, chapter & verse that specifically gives a person who's not even in a young child's family the authority to intervene--usually unwelcomed by the child's parents--in an area such as you demand me to do!

I'm not a theological genius by any stretch of your imagination, but, IMHO, I'd say you're going to be hard-pressed to find it.

Seems to me you're trying to pass the buck here, Bro. EW&F.

These young children who attend our services only do so with their parents' cognizance & permission.

Knowing that, you now demand that I violate a God-given principle & take a young child aside and explain to him that, in spite of what your parents may tell you, this is how it is.

See how long his parents will continue to allow me (or my church) to drive him to our corporate services!

Bro. EW&F, you have a strange grasp of human nature.

Why don't you admit that you're only side-stepping these issues by evading what is/are real concerns--not just mine, but of many people who've expressed their thoughts about this subject on this thread--people you've also ignored by not even addressing their similar concerns as mine.

Go ahead, keep on de-valuing Children's Church if you wish. That's your prerogative. But I beg you not to continue thumbing your nose at people who do value ministries such as Children's Church, my brother.

If the church wherein you serve doesn't see the need of something such as Children's Church, that's okay with me. Don't have one if your church doesn't want one. But, by the same token, please don't publicly condemn a sister church that does have one. Please!

For the 3d time now, I'm asking you to give me your Bible-based advice on the best way a church that wants to minister to young children should go about ministering to them.

Please don't delay with your Bible-based advice on this very important matter. Please don't, my brother in Christ.

Hoooo boy that is a long reach there. By that logic, allowing the preacher to preach to my kids in the sanctuary is also usurping my role as the chief mentor responsible for a Christian upbringing. I guess Sunday School would fit in that category as well.

I was talking to my husband about this tread earlier and he reminded me of a point our old pastor had made. Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians with the expectations that it would be read in church. In the letter there is an admonition to children, which only make sense if Children were in the church service to hear the letter being read.

I can only go off the positions you have taken in this thread which is kind of a moving target. Specifically the role of parents contrasted with the thread topic of keeping the kids in church.

Yea and are they there present in the building, listening and learning?

now did I say that.....I said its the parents responsibility to see that the kids are raised up properly

And while you are doing this, please tell me where the parents are....at home watching the Flintstones perhaps? and who are you, the babysitter?

So what is the answer then?

"Sorry kid, we can't let you worship with us because your parents are deadbeats."

Sounds to me like you just validated another reason for children's church. A potential outreach tool.

True but some churches do more than others. Sounds like you just volunteered a great new idea!

I would disagree, church is to equip the saints so that they can then go out and do Outreach. Again this is just the idea that we need to let the professionals take care of ministry.
