In 2 Peter 2, Peter is presenting how God will watch over the elect who are under distress and punish the ungodly. Verse 9 is interesting in that Peter declares God will keep the unrighteous under punishment.

2 Peter 2:9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

Can we take anything from this passage regarding God's sovereign choice over the soul of man verses man's free-will to repent?
