After the first two months of fiscal year 2024, the national debt has increased by $711 billion. Extrapolated through the remaining ten months of the fiscal year, that would give a total for the fiscal year of $4.27 trillion.

Most folks have no perspective when you start throwing millions and billions and trillions around.

1 Million Dollars in $!00 bills weighs about 24 pounds. Carry on luggage.

1 Trillion Dollars in same bills weighs 24 Million Pounds

An interesting fact is countries to whom nations owe their debts.

Most countries owe the majority of their debt to other countries. The US debt is divided. 70% is internal while 30% is owed to other countries.

Yep. About 30% of our debt is to a foreign nation. That's something that isn't discussed often. That and the fact that much of our debt is owed to our own government.

That is something we need to consider when comparing the US to other countries.

Japan owes the US over 1 trillion. The UK is heavily indebted to the US as well.

Luxembourg's debt to the US is the one that surprised me.
