Kris Kobach: Lawsuits Against Election Committee Seek to Prevent Exposure of Non-Citizens on Voter Rolls

Kris Kobach: Lawsuits Against Election Committee Seek to Prevent Exposure of Non-Citizens on Voter Rolls

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who serves as vice chairman of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, talked with Breitbart News Daily on Friday about efforts by groups like the ACLU and NAACP to prevent his commission from doing its work.
Kobach described the Commission on Election Integrity as “the first-ever nationwide bipartisan body investigating voter fraud in America.”

“You’ve got secretaries of state like me who have extensively investigated voter fraud in my state of Kansas and found a significant amount of it, but never have you had a commission of this nature,” he told SiriusXM host Alex Marlow. “Its work is so important because surveys show only 40 percent of Americans think elections are fair in this country.”

“The first meeting was an important one,” he said. “We heard a significant amount of evidence already, including the fact that there are at least 938 criminal convictions for election crimes since approximately the year 2000 across the country. There may be more. That’s an effort to catalog all of the convictions recorded in newspapers across the country.”

Kobach said there have been seven lawsuits filed against his commission, which he believes is more than any other commission in U.S. history has faced.

“President Obama had 28 presidential commissions. President Bush had 24. None of them were hit by seven lawsuits, and only a couple, a very small number of commissions, saw any litigation at all,” he pointed out.

“There seems to be a strategy by the plaintiffs to stop the commission in its tracks,” he said. “They tried to stop the first meeting. Their arguments were very flimsy, and the U.S. district courts rejected them. Now they’re trying to stop the commission from collecting voter information, voter rolls that are publicly available in the states.”

“You’ve got a very serious commission who can take an honest, dispassionate look at the facts and present them. And yet, still, the left is outraged that we should even look. Their whole mantra seems to be, ‘Don’t even look at it. Voter fraud doesn’t exist. Turn your eyes away,’” Kobach lamented.

    Ahh. Breitbart propaganda.

Trump’s election integrity commission needs to redress voter suppression, not fraud

Massive voter Fraud is a myth, period

Research from the Brennan Center for Justice has found that voter fraud cases—whether related to clerical, typographical, bad matching data, or poorly updated personal records are few and far between. When incidents are identified, they are punishable by law. While the current administration has called out double voting or registration (when someone votes twice in his resident state or another state), election fraud among dead voters, and intentional fraud by noncitizens, these cases combined do not impede federal elections.

    ....
Further, the Brennan Center report argues that because prosecutor Kris Kobach’s review of 84 million votes cast in 22 states found only 14 instances of fraud referred for prosecution (which amounts to a 0.00000017 percent fraud rate), voter fraud is so statistically small that it’s a non-issue. Let’s follow this logic. Does the fact that 109 people were cited for jaywalking in Seattle in 2009 mean that only 109 people jaywalked in Seattle that year? Does the fact that 103,733 people were cited for driving without a seatbelt in Tennessee in 2015 mean that only that many people were driving without seatbelt in Tennessee in 2015?

Absolutely not. This can be proven easily because in 2014, the previous year, only 29,470 people were cited. The disparity is largely due to increased enforcement efforts in 2015. In other words, increasing enforcement of the crime revealed a much larger number of people committing the crime.

The exact same is true for voter fraud. We have no reason to believe that the low number of prosecutions means only that exact amount of voter fraud is happening. Rather, it could mean a lack of enforcement is failing to reveal the bulk of the violations that are occurring. Thus, as with many types of crimes, especially victimless crimes, the real number of cases is likely significantly higher than the number reported....

Voter Fraud Is Real. Here’s The Proof

The false news that claims voter fraud is a myth at all is an injustice to every lawful citizen voter. :Barefoot

The historical bait and switch of voter fraud claims

“Stolen elections” can be traced back to the presidential election of 1860, when Abraham Lincoln’s 180 electoral votes were called into question by egregious claims of political corruption, favoritism, changing convention rules, and other non-democratic activities.

The Reconstruction period later surfaced cases of voter fraud, despite the passage of the 15thAmendment, which prohibited the direct disenfranchisement of citizens based on race or former enslavement. Instances of ballot stuffing, discarded or miscounted party vote were part of a broad strategy by white Democrats (then the face of white supremacy) who sought to regain power in the South. Years later, these problems ultimately led to necessary reforms, including the introduction of voter registration and the use of secret ballots.

Over the next few decades, Republicans would lead the charge to decry voter fraud to maintain their political majority. During the 1960 presidential election, reports of deceased and other unregistered voters in largely African American districts in Illinois or cases of malfeasance throughout Texas were believed to have rigged John F. Kennedy’s victory over Richard Nixon. Years later, former Attorney General John Ashcroft formed the “Ballot Access and Voting Integrity Initiative” under the Bush administration to weed out voter fraud before the next major election. Despite his coordination of the U.S. attorney offices with local election officials, only 24 people were convicted of improper or illegal voting and 14 noncitizens were found to be illegally voting in federal elections between 2002 and 2005.

These and other complaints of voter misconduct have yielded similar results—an insignificant impact on federal elections. And Republican allegations of voter fraud, including Trump’s executive order, have borderline (if not obvious) discriminatory intent, especially when voter suppression efforts are dismissed.

Trump’s election integrity commission needs to redress voter suppression, not fraud

Democrats sanction, support, and encourage voter fraud, especially non citizen voting. They will do anything to keep the extent of the problem from being exposed.

That's just the way it is.

Study: 8,471 Cases of Double Voting Uncovered in 21 States

Yeah, like too many other people, I go over the speed limit every day but haven't had a ticket in decades, and neither has anybody else I know. Therefore, nobody ever exceeds the speed limit.

Left is squealing like stuck pigs and I know for a fact that some people do double-vote - former co-worker of mine lived in MA, would hop over to NH the day of an election and vote there, too. Not to mention all those snowbirds in Florida and elsewhere.

The dead vote, too, at least they do in Philly. Friend of mine from there has a deceased father with the same name but the son moved away years ago to WA state. They both STILL vote in PA, that's what the sister there says.

So you were aware of a crime and didn't report it. Hmmm.... I bet that person voted Republican.

The voter fraud deniers are all about bringing a larger voting base for the Democrats who apparently cannot do it with the American people.

The Left need fraudulent votes. And fraudulent voters, especially illegals, will vote for the Left. Because the Left gives them everything at tax payer expense.

Dems like to claim that elections are rigged and should be investigated. They just don't want the current administration to do it.

Obama said in 2008 said that he wanted a “Justice dept voting Rights division that is serious about investigating vote fraud.”

Obama was lying, as usual. Instead he used the Justice Dept. to help cover it up.

I'm thousands of miles away from my home, sitting in the back seat of a minivan full of people that hired me for a project, we all go out for lunch, then they cross the border and they all go vote. No, I'm going to rat them out or play poll watcher, this is a pratfall of same-day registration and I know at least two of the five just hated Kelly and went there explicitly to vote her out, which they did:

Voter fraud alert: More than 5,000 New Hampshire presidential voters may not live in state

Presidential, I don't know, most of them were bashing both Hillary and Trump going there and back. Don't remember any names, of course, or the company . . .
