A nationwide survey commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops underscores the public view of abortion.

The poll involved a cross-section of Americans -- not just Catholics -- and assistant director for policy and communications at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Deirdre McQuade has part of the results.

"Four out of five American adults -- 82 percent -- think abortion should be either illegal under all circumstances or with limited legality, and only nine percent said that abortion should be legal for any reason at any time during pregnancy," she explains.

Perhaps we should get the question on the next ballot. Sounds like America is ready to put an end to it.

Marcia, you are right. This poll is obviously skewed in some way.

Absolutely has to be.

Don't know how, but has to be.

No wonder liberals are afraid to let the issue be brought to any kind of a vote. Rather depend on liberal judges to legislate from the bench.

I want to see it on the ballot and it doesn't take a liberal to get it there...

This was an ONLINE poll (Harris Interactive), which is notoriously unscientific. THAT is the flaw with it.

It also explains why it is contrary to every Harris and Gallup poll conducted in recent years.
