Tennessee Republican Governor Strips Mask Mandate Authority From Health Departments

“After more than a year of public-led health interventions, we’re in a different season. It’s time to shift our focus now more toward recovery, and not restrictions,” said Lee.
While the governor’s executive order doesn’t affect the six health departments that operate in Tennessee under local instead of state authority — including Davidson County, home of Nashville — Lee said that his office has spoken with officials in each of those counties and told them that the governor wants any mandates to end by May 30.
“We think that will be happening in cities across our state,” he said.

As I understand, TN is no longer a "Mask-required-EVERYwhere-State"! OTOH there are some restrictions for certain medical professionals that WILL require them using a mask until some yet-to-be-determined date (Possibly Labor Day, or, [Appropriately named!] THANKS Giving.) These restrictions include nurses, doctors, etc., working with patients not yet vaccinated with the Covid-19 shot, and things like that, cannot be not "socially distanced" from others (on a bus, etc.) who must wear a mask, etc. IOW, the basic rule seems to be just be a good neighbor: If the folks next door are elderly, use a mask when you're visiting with them, etc. Also, Gov Lee stated that if your TN county still has a mask-mandate in force, then you must wear one. I suppose this may also apply to those out-of-state drivers who're just traveling through our Volunteer State. I've been told that the local Police will only stop a vehicle if it's appears to be in violation of TN's motor vehicle code. OTOH, law enforcement personnel most likely will have a spare mask or two just in case you forget to carry your mask with you while you're on the road to, from, etc., TN. Governor Lee has always been leery about these "The-Sky-Is-Falling Lunatics," and has done an admirable job of using one's common sense about wearing a mask. I'm basically a shut-in, but I do wear one to go to my church, etc., because even Pastor Yancey and Mrs Yancey have had Covid-19. Praise God both of them seemed to have recovered, but one can't be too sure that a re-lapse might occur. Thanks Communist China!! Where is your "Returns" desk?
