    Chronicles of Narnia Movie Link

I can't wait! I've loved the books since I was little, and now my children enjoy them, especially the oldest.
I'll be looking forward to seeing it when it comes out. I'll even go to the theater! Whoo-hoo! I've never taken the girls. [IMG]

Looking forward to this. Why would it be slammed?

I guarantee it will be slammed by Christian extremist wackos. Unless the movie is "perfect" to the book in their eyes, they'll attribute it to Satan. I'll bet my dog on it.

Well, I know some who will not allow their children to read this book because of the magic in it. I also know one woman who started to read the book to her children, but found them "too dark". So I am sure there are those who will have the same criticisms of the movie.

I don't agree with these assessments, but there you go....

Oh No! Spawn of Satan! Nicole Kidman is in it! Isn't she a porn star? She did some show with one of her husbands where they were naked! (Eyes Wide Shut was BANNED in S. Korea!) C.S. Lewis used a lot of allegories that are supposed to point to scripture! He was a Catholic too!

Do these books and are these movies going to claim authority of preaching the gospel?

I have never heard of these books, I do know I have sat with my children and watched the Harry Potter movie; but I also know this movie is not being supposed as the greatest evangelical tool in the last 100 years.

I understand why many Christian leaders cry out against it, but still the movie to my knowledge is not claiming inherently or otherwise to fill in blanks in the word of God.

Of Course a Continuation of the message of peace and love from the queen of heaven the mother of god. The least you guys can do if you really believe those opposed to exhibitions of error are 'wacko' is pray for us who are [IMG]

Let me find someone to produce a movie from the Landmark (baptist brider) position and see what happens.

Your right, just look at what is happening with the Passion? No matter what good it may bring it will be criticized by some. Oh well, cant please everyone all the time.

It won't bother me a bit if the movie is not totally faithful to C.S Lewis writings. It is only a book.

I haven't seen or heard nor do I really care at this point about the Narnia movie. I just can't believe the venom from which this first page of the thread is already spewing at those who do have reasons to oppose your points of views.

Really, why not just talk about the movie rather than baiting a debate by titling it "another movie to slam." Is it really necessary to call those in opposition "Christian extremeist wackos?" Is this really the scriptural way in which to deal with it?

While some of you may have been attempting to be "funny", I think you have failed. Funny, nah...Divisive, possibly. But that's my point of view, me, one of those "wackos" who believes that a movie should be marketed for what it is. If this movie is marketed as a movie about the book, then fine. If it's marketed as "accurate" and "biblical" then I will object to it as well. Laugh if you will, I will stand by what I believe to be right. I have no problem with you doing the same, I think it is just rude to do so while belitting those with whom you disagree.

Lorelei, yes I could have titled it differently. However, I LOVE these books, and while wanting to bring it to attention and discuss it, I also know that there will be those who will not understand why I will want to watch it, just as I do not understand the desire to see "The Passion". Yes I was being a bit silly, but it wasn't meant to "bait". The reactions will come regardless of the name of the post.

Frogman, you never heard of these books? Wow! They're by C.S. Lewis and while they're fantasy, they also mirror the basics of the bible and our relationship with God, and the fight between good and evil. It's done in a very talented way. They're meant to be children's stories, but I still enjoy them.
The describe Narnia from it's creation to it's end, and the lives of 4 children (and sometimes cousins) as they go between England and Narnia.

I think you'd enjoy reading them for the theological thoughts you can pick up, even thought they're kids books! I think Lewis was a Calvinist. :D

Good one Bro. Dallas! C.S. Lewis changed his church leanings a number of times.
