My wife and I went on a picnic today at Columbus Belmont State Park today. It is a Civil War battlefield park. It sits high on a bluff on the Mississippi River on the border with Missouri, about 40 miles from my house. During the Civil War, the Confederates extended a hugh chain across the river to disrupt Union traffic flow.
Anyway, the two links above are looking at the Mississippi River, the first to the south, and the second to the north. Notice the barges parked at the banks and the hugh expanses of land jetting out into the river both ways. It has slowed traffic, and some barges have been forced to lighten their load. This is another effect of the drought. Just thought some would like to see the pictures.
