Nothing new. I've seen it for years. Here in Florida, Waldo and Lawtey and Ludowici, Ga. are know as speed traps. I could give you a list of speed traps across the country, it is way to bring money in. From driving a truck for years I could tell you stories of problems about scale houses and truck inspections that are unreal.

My father came back from WWII and had no trust in our government and after I spend my time in the service, I see why he felt like he did. I can't say I agreed with him a hundred percent. I hope times have changed, but when I was in, it was not a good picture. Drunks all over the place, men who didn't know how to treat females all over the place and so many towns wished we were not there. Go to Columbus,Ga. or Phoenix City, Al., Hope Well and Norfolk, Va. the picture has not been good. I hope times have changed.

I'm glad you take your service to heart and I'm sure there are many others who do, and I wish to thank you. I have to say for me, upholding the constitution and defending this country wasn't number one ( and I'm a shame of that) but coming home a live was.

That is an excellent reason to support an agency such as Armed Forces Baptist Missions

I spent a lot of time there (then known as Servicemen for Christ) when I was stationed at Fort Lee, VA - both times.

Off subject. While at seminary in Richmond a few of us would go down to Fort Lee and to Hope Well at City Point Inn and have meeting. What a mission field. Also held meeting while at school there, at Camp Pickett, A.P. Hill and at Norfolk for the navy folks.

I have a missionary friend who was over seas for 35 years and I took him to about a dozen truck stops down here and in Ga. and to J-ville, P-cola here in Florida and Hinesville in Ga. and Fayetteville in NC for our service friends. He couldn't get over what a field the service folks and truck driver are. He is now doing work with the truckers.

Anyways, I think a person should have the right to videotape any government person in the performance of their duties. (unless for national security)
I have seen signs in DMV that state photography is prohibited - so does that mean they are not allowed to take my picture for my license?

Don't give the police the hard time enforcing ANY laws. The people you have a beef with are the legislators. Again, cops only ENFORCE laws written on the books by the people YOU elect to represent you.

And, hilarious about the speed traps. If you don't want a ticket, don't speed. Very easy.

You need to do some reading about speed traps in some parts of the country. Ludowici, Ga. was so bad that the Governor of the state stepped in to put it down. Lawtey, Fl. is or was so bad that AAA would route auto around a longer way to keep them from driving through the town. Waldo was about the same but they got it cleaned up about 15 years ago. When you have a town of 1200 people and they have 30 or 40 traffic cops and lead the state in tickets you have a problem.

I haven't been in your state in years ( about 1999) but I've had to go to court and beat scale or inspection tickets at Cortez, Co. a few times.

What you said is true if it isn't a speed trap, you know speed drops 10 MPH and no sign or the sign is behind a bush or so, there still are places like that. There are still scales and inspections stations that you can't get through with out a ticket if they are in the mood to write. I will say all in all it isn't as bad as it was years ago. Don't say anything but don't move your truck and call a shop and have them check your equipment, all in all it has saved me money from time to time.

Jason, the first few years of my military career, I was a military security specialist. For another few years, I taught others how to be military security specialists.

The reports that I'm hearing are more indicative of the comic book character "Judge Dredd" as opposed to servants of the public. I believe the saying is, "to protect and serve."

My cousin attempted to be a law enforcement officer. He lasted 6 months before he was fired. He couldn't understand the difference between enforcing the law and using a badge to have authority over others.

That, my friend, is my problem with the "peace officers" I reference here.

You speak out of ignorance. There are towns here in Florida that are situated right on the highway. It will from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 and down to 25 within 1/2 a mile. Signs are deceptively placed and hard to see. These town's main source of revenue comes from speeding tickets.
