Mansion Over The Hilltop

That old hymn kept going through my mind today without hearing the song. Then I listened to two versions of it.

It's not a deep song. It has a catchy tune though. It's mainly a sentimental thing like In The Garden.

But a few lines caught my interest:

"I'm satisfied with just a cottage below. A little silver, and a little gold."

A cottage is a small, modest house --simple and unadorned.

But man! A pound of gold is worth $16,624. Silver is valued at almost $206. That's almost $17,000 bucks. It's all relative to one's circumstances, but that's nothing to sneeze at.

And of course we know that 'mansion' as rendered in the KJV really means many dwelling places.
