Wait! he is "convicted" without a "trial"

Maybe suspend - but terminated!!!
Evidently the accusation was by only one person?
And who is this person - doesn't an individual have the right to face his accuser?

It's not a civil rights trial. It's an action by a corporation regarding one of its employees.

You have no idea how long management has been gathering evidence about Lauer. Nor do you know the quality of that evidence. There must be convincing evidence for TV network to fire one of their stars.

Handle it legally then. Make a case and sue the station if you are innocent... and here is my point, it is not my business & I am not going to judge the guy.

Employment in New York is "at will." An employee can be fired, without cause, at any time.

Lauer probably had a contract with NBC which also probably had a "morals clause" which allowed NBC to declare the contract null and void and terminate him.

Fired employees do have the right to due process, but only after the fact, and only before a trier of fact (a court). If Lauer thinks he was mistreated he is free to sue NBC for breach of contract but by so doing he brings his entire employment history into the record and will be made public during the trial and become permanently available to the public via a FOIA request.

Even if he is not guilty in this instance, there is probably a lot of things in his employment file he would rather not be made permanently available to the public.
