I posted this on the mission forum as well but I thought that it would acceptable to ask this question here as well.

I own a number of texts on missiology, the history of missions, and specific missionary biographies but I would like to know of any such book that has been especially meaningful to any of the forum participants.

In addition to filling out my own library, I am building a mission library at our church, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

"Let the Nations be Glad" by Dr. John Piper is excellent. It is not easy reading though.

Re: missionary biographies, I enjoy Don Richardson's books "Peace Child"(1974) and "Eternity in their Hearts"(81). They still hold the interest of teens (and old'sters) interested in missions.

Biblical Missions: History, Principles, Practice by Roy F. Dearmore (1997, 667 pages) is a good book by an experienced independent Baptist missionary. Though I don't agree with him in all areas, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject.

A Biblical Theology of Missions by George W. Peters & published by Moody Press. A classic must-read in the field of missions.

A friend loaned me "Bruchko" and I found it a very good book, though I would have to say that I do not fully agree with the author in all points, yet I found I couldn't put the book down. Especially after the point that he was rejected by his family because of his faith.
