Maybe the bill can be amended to offer ferry service at the Rio Grande, then give them discount coupons for Taco Bell.

It appears from this thread that the hatred expressed by the Mexicans at the beauty pageant has found its American equivalent in some members of the Baptist Board.

It would more correctly be defined as frustration over illegal immigration and American bashing.

So true, and Jews, too. They sure didn't come from Mexico, unless you count tacos.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Apparently millions of people must feel differently than you do since they are coming here by the millions every year, any way they can get in.

It must be a rag. Otherwise, they all wouldn't want to come HERE.

Sadly you are very correct. Some of the statements in this thread are beyond reprehensible. "They didn't come from Mexico unless you count tacos?" Sheesh... Have some class people, at least act like Christians.

BTW, not everyone from "that rag of a country" is coming here.....

You don't have to like Mexico or Mexicans and you surely do not have to like the behavior of illegal immigrants, but to deny the contributions of Mexicans and Hispanics to the world is just wrong. Many of the cattle ranching techniques in America were based on Mexican principles. The Mexicans are the ones who taught us how to mine gold and other natural resources. RNA was discovered by a Hispanic Dr. Severo Ochoa who won the Nobel prize in 1959 for his discovery.....

And people really wonder why people in other countries boo us? Maybe we have become a little to prideful for our own good. Humilty goes a long way.

Of course it was, but why stoop to the same level? Aren't we better than that? I would hope so....

    Exactly, carpro.

FP, you missed the point (not surprisingly). I said "modern conveniences." I'll take back the taco comment and substitute Montezuma's revenge instead. And they boo America? Give me a break.

No, LE, I think you missed the point (not surprisingly). Hint, look at C4K's post again. ( post #22) I'm sure it will come to you eventually.

Here, I'll say it again, FP, you missed the point. I said "modern conveniences."

    I don't wonder. I already know why - they're JEALOUS. A little TOO jealous.

Of which the taco was one? Not that it matters anyway because the whole point I was trying to make was summed up by Roger quite well. It has nothing to do with the inventors of modern technology, either.

And would you look at that, I don't even need to use big, bold font.

I am certainly glad that Jesus didn't feel the same way about the "Gentile dogs" that some here appear to feel about Mexicans.

Seems like He made a point to go through Samaria at one point. His disciples acted like some here when He actually stopped and spoke to one of those stinky Samaritans.

I must say that I am somewhat stunned at what frustration has led some Christians to say on this thread.

I think comments like "all they have contributed is Montezuma's revenge," and "rag of a country" show as much of a "lack of class" as booing a beauty contestant.

I suppose we should expect to be able to bash Mexico, call their country a rag, and still expect them to love and idolise America?

If we are going to use monikers like that, how would one refer to a country which has legalised and permitted the brutal murder of 50 million of its citizens in the last 30 or so years.

There was NO excuse to boo this poor girl from Tennessee, any more than there is an excuse to refer to a country as a "rag."

Roger, you are certainly entitled to your opinions, just as everyone on here is entitled to have opinions. The point of the OP is how Miss America was booed by citizens of a country who boo us on the one hand yet do anything to get to America on the other hand - these people should be booing their own government for being corrupt (not ours), for not providing safe drinking water for 85% of their country, for not providing education, employment, and development for their citizens and much, much more. After all, Mexico has been around a whole lot longer than the USA has been in existance as a nation, so there is no excuse for Mexico to be a third world country which doesn't even have safe drinking water and sanitation practices for the majority of its citizens and diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy and other diseases from mounds of garbage and trash running rampant. They DO have a rag of a country - and a lot of poverty - which is the corrupt Mexican government's fault!! By booing Miss USA, they were in essence booing the American people - the very people who are providing jobs for their illegals to send money home to Mexico, the very people whose tax dollars are providing health care and education for Mexicans who are coming here by the millions, the very people who are providing the things that their own government should be providing for them. So who has no class?

To equate American frustration over jealous Mexican attitudes is missing the point of the OP. But okay, if it makes some here feel more pious to bash America and point accusatory fingers at fellow BB members, so be it. It isn't the first time people have been a little too prideful by implying "my attitude is better than yours." You see, the finger pointing can go both ways.

The socialist state of Mexico is indeed a "rag" of a country. If it was something to brag about, 20 million wouldn't be fleeing it and invading another country to do so. It wasn't always like this for there was a time when it was blessed with Christian leadership in men like Pablo Juarez. However, the bad guys won and now it is a Roman Catholic, socialist rag of a country and it is being used as a tool to turn the United States into the same. If our course is not changed, the same fate is befalling the United States of America as the bad guys are winning here and it is becoming a Roman Catholic, socialist rag of a country and pretty soon Canada, U.S.A and Mexico will be one regional Roman Catholic, socialist bath towel of a North American Union and in time, the FTAA will turn North and South America into one big wet blanket.

As to the invention argument, I don't personally believe this is necessarily something to brag about as many modern inventions would be better off being uninvented. I would've preferred those Manhattan Project folks had gone fishing and if only Al Gore hadn't invented the internet we wouldn't be walking into globalism today. A Mexican, Guillermo González Camarena, is credited as being "an inventor of modern color television" and this certainly would be a modern convenience worthy of uninvention. With rare exception most of these inventors are illuminated ones, and few are Christians and most of the inventions lead people further from God then closer.

There is at least one Mexican citizen who is a member of the BB and was active on the BB for a good bit of the day yesterday. I hope he didn't read any of this.

Well, to further reiterate why I call Mexico a "rag of a country," and why Mexicans should be booing their own country (government) instead of the USA, here are some statistics that prove my assertion. (granted they are from 2000, and if anyone can find later studies, please post them)
