Isa. 66 is multi- focused, and is as some other prophetic statements that show both the near immediate scenes as well as that upon the horizon.

When one gazes upon a portrait displaying landscape, the eyes move according to the custom of that person’s comfortable scheme. Some move from top to bottom scanning left to right, or right to left. Some take in the center and spiral out. Some jump from determined point of interest to the next. No singular scheme is better, but each seeking their own comfortable comprehension of that looked upon. Sadly some turn away with little interest, comprehension, or biased dismissal.

The writing of the prophets are then not to be seen (with some occasions excepted) as completely appointed to a singular object of the near landscape. Rather, as is in the case of Is.66, the prophet gives as the Lord dictated that which is both immediately the eye catching and also that which one must have desire to find. Knowing that somewhere the artist (the one authoring what is to be displayed) has even placed His own portrait.

Just as the Revelations spell out, from chapter 19 to the end, a chronology of events yet to take place, Isa. 66 gives a perspective of those events as God dictated them and placing Himself in those statements. Hidden treasures of the immediate and the horizon.

Note: I started to post Isa. 66 and give specific examples, but why take the fun out of the reader seeing for themself such treasures and rejoicing.

Do you even know what the "rod of Iron" is?

•“with a rod of iron” – The Rod (King’s Sceptre) of the Shepherd, the ruling and corrector, judge, rod of inheritance, separator of chaff from wheat, voice of the LORD, that which is used to feed with, head over the house; see Gen. 49:10; Exo. 4:17; Lev. 27:32; Num. 17:3, 24:17; 2 Sam. 7:14, 23:21; 1 Chr. 11:23; Job. 9:34, 37:13; Psa. 23:4, 45:6; 74:2, 89:32, 110:2; Pro. 10:13, 13:24, 22:15, 23:13-14, 26:3, 29:15; Isa. 10:24, 11:1,4, 14:5,29, 28:27, 30:31; Jer. 10:16, 51:19; Lam. 3:1; Eze. 19:11,14, 20:37, 21:10,13; Amo. 1:5,8; Mic. 5:1, 7:14; Zec. 10:11; and a ‘rod’ is also a ‘tribe’ or people group (H7626), such as ‘Israel’ (Natural or Spiritual), see Gen. 49:16; Deut. 29:8; Jos. 13:6-7, 23:4; Psa. 78:55; Pro. 27:17; Isa. 10:4-5,15, 49:6; Jer. 1:18; Eze. 37:19; and "iron" is that which breaks in pieces all others; symbol of strength, even of defense (walls of iron, etc), see Lev. 26:19; Job. 28:2, 40:18; Pro. 27:17; Jer. 15:12; Dan. 2:40, and thus a “rod of iron”, see Num. 35:16; Psa. 2:9; Isa. 11:4; Rev. 2:27, 12:5, 19:15.

Do you even know what "ruling" means?

    •“who was to rule all nations” – (rule = G4165, ποιμαινειν) To be governor, guardian over the sheep as a Shepherd in caring and tending (Psa. 78:71-72; Isa. 40:11; Jer. 23:4-6; Eze. 34:17,20,22-25, 37:24-26; Mat. 2:6, 25:32-33; Luk. 17:7; Jhn. 21:16; Act. 20:28; 1 Cor. 9:7; 1 Pet. 2:25, 5:2; Jud. 1:12; Rev. 2:27, 7:17, 12:5, 19:15); see Gen. 49:10; Num. 24:19; 1 Chr. 5:2; Psa. 2:6,9-10; Isa. 9:6-7; Mat. 28:18; Eph. 1:22; Col. 1:18; Rev. 2:26-27, 11:15, 19:15.

Of course. A rod of iron is a symbol of power. In a street fight, a piece of re-bar makes a formidable weapon.

Of course. to rule is to exercise power or authority over another person or persons. And "reign" means to rule with sovereign power. And both are what Jesus will do on earth during the millenium.

This question may have already been asked, if so forgive me. When did the Anti Christ go in the temple and proclaim to be God, and require all to take the Mark of the Beast?

In the ancients, the Middle East shepherds carried two items with them every they went. A rod and a staff.

The rod was both an attack and defensive weapon.

The staff was a guiding, counting, and prodding weapon.

The twenty-third psalm uses both by the shepherd regarding His sheep.

The rod of iron is not merely symbolic of authority, but used in judgement significantly in the times of the kings.

When Ester approach her husband, had he not indicated her presence was acceptable, she would have been slaughtered. The rod of the ruler was used in the same manner as the rod of the Shepherd - to protect what is his and to slaughter what is not.

Not yet. We don't know who the antichrist will be yet, and, as he didn't do that in the old temple, a new one will hafta be built before that event can occur.

It will occur at the midpoint of the seven year tribulation. Immediately after the Two Witnesses finish their 3.5 year testimony and the Beast is allowed to slay them.
