Ministry & Charity

    Over the last 6 months, I have begun to feel that God would want me to start a Ministry & Charity.

    Has anyone set up a non-profit organization? Can you share some tips?

    The ministry will focus upon
    1) Helping the widows and orphans of those in ministry.
    2) Assisting the widows to remain in ministry.
    3) Share the Good News of Jesus Christ and His love.

    That would be part of the overall scope of work.

    Outline what areas could be helped with. What areas should be helped with. And what areas we might be able to fund.

    What I have noticed is that once a pastor dies, the family has a short perioed of time to relocate and start over. I just feel that there could be an oportunity here to minister to those that have given so much with so little thought of themselves.

    Honest warning: many who go to work helping widows/children can get "involved" way beyond the scope of biblical caring. It is risky. Have a good protocol and system of checks/balances in your plan.

    Happened to many of the firefighters in NYC after 9.11 They wanted to "help" the widows and children of friends, then got too involved in those ministrations, to the loss of their own families.

    But in spite of the danger, it is religion at its finest. God bless.

    My suggestion would be to start the ministry as a ministry of a local church rather than a parachurch organization
