Miss New York may be Miss America, but America prefers Miss Kansas

Note: I want to clarify, should anyone leap to a conclusion, that I am not promoting this story because I live in Kansas. I'm from Missouri, always will be a Missourian, and hate the fact my address is Kansas. But I raised my kids here, my wife lives her and doesn't want to move, so here I am, a Missourian stuck 2-1/2 miles inside "enemy territory."

Miss New York Nina Davuluri, 24, from Syracuse, sashayed off with the tiara and the $50,000 scholarship cash. She performed a Bollywood fusion dance (after missing her cue at first) and answered a question about plastic surgery. ("Be confident in who you are!") She said she hopes to become a doctor, like her father, who is an obstetrician.​

However, while she may have been the judges' choice, she wasn't America's choice:

First up was "America's choice," chosen by online vote: Miss Kansas Theresa Vail (talking about tattoos and Army life paid off for her!) "I am so honored," she said. "To be fair, I did have the backing of an entire army, literally."​

Miss Kansas' fame -- or infamy, in the opinions of some on this board -- is that she openly displayed her tattoos in the bathing suit competition. Someone even started a thread in the "General Baptist Discussions" section (what this has to do with being a Baptist is beyond me) decrying her tattoos. Well, like it or not, some very fine young -- and older -- Baptist or other-labeled Christian ladies, and men as well, have tattoos, so live with it, folks. As I said on that aforementioned thread, "Don't like it? Don't look. Otherwise, don't worry about it."

Interesting thread - First, I am from the Greater Salt City area (home to the new Miss Americia)

and I also made a comment about the tattos.

IMHO (and of course I am always right:smilewinkgrin I do not believe that tattoos on a woman are feminine. To me - and the bigger the tattoo, the bigger a turn off it is to me.
