Yes, that is a great book, I've read it. Here is one other that is just as good if not better: The Way to True Happiness - Robert Harris

No, the Apostle couldn't preach certain things to the Hebrews because of their level of maturity in the faith. It is by practice that one develops discernment. Soldiers are not made in the lecture hall.

So, again, we are not talking about people who have not heard the arguments. They simply doubt their verity. The Gentiles coming into the church at Jerusalem were commanded to abstain from blood, things strangled and meats offered to idols. Though none of these things are unclean of themselves, they were commanded—not asked—to abstain, and that not simply while at the jew's house or somewhere he might catch one chowing down.

And if you're preaching Christ and His Kingdom, you're not preaching about food and drink. You're preaching righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

In your life, if you love your brothers (Rom. 14:15), you will not make food and drink an issue. You won't trouble weaker brothers by preaching at them about it (Rom. 14:1) or insisting on taking your liberties. You will aim for harmony in the church. Not AT church. IN the church, the communion of saints.

19 So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.
20 Don't tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.
21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.
22 You may believe there's nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don't feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right.
23 But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.

Ill respond shortly but I just wanted to say how nice it is to actually be talking about scripture.

We should have been doing this from the beginning.

No. Preaching is not just meat. It is milk too. You preach the milk of the word aiding growth so that you can preach the meat of the word.

Because they are ignorant. That's why they doubt their verity.

Paul could NOT HAVE BEEN MORE CLEAR. I mean the VIRGIN BIRTH is not clearer than the fact that the stronger brother is one with KNOWLEDGE.

There is nothing in the entire Bible that is clearer than that.

In the presence of Jews. We don't abide by those directives today and Paul did not expect everyone to abide by them in HIS day.

The point is that the Jews had hang-ups and you had to tip toe around them to keep from offending their sensitivities that were based on ignorance.
