4 more churches burned in AL...

The churches and locations according to the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office are:

Dansby Baptist Church, located south of Aliceville on Alabama Highway 17 -- damaged
Spring Valley Baptist Church, located near Emelle in Sumter County on Alabama Highway 116 -- damaged
Morning Star Baptist Church, located near Boligee in Greene County, on County Road 20 -- destroyed
Galilee Baptist Church, located near Panola in Sumter County -- destroyed

All of these churches are small, rural ones. The area is predominantly black, but I'm not 100% sure about the churches & don't want to speculate.

Whether this is the same idiot, or a copycat, hope they're caught and soon...

    How terrible! [IMG]

I was just reading about it and the news said "All nine churches were Baptist, the dominant faith in the area."

Seems like somebody has a vendetta.

    possibly...

the investigation from the other night's fires seems to be leaning toward the "someone got really drunk and stupid" side of things.

But EL, I'm not sure you could do what has been done without some sort of vendetta.

But I tell you what: I've been very proud of the quotes I've been seeing from members, pastors, etc. They're doing a great job of pointing out these truths when interviewed:

    -only the buildings--not the church--burned.
-the perps are sick with sin, and need God.
-most quotes I've heard have espoused a healthy view of forgiveness--"we don't harbor hatred toward the person(s)," tempered with, "but they have broken laws, and must answer to the authorities for what they did."

I've only heard one quote that was really hurtful, or out of line.

The pastor of the mostly black church has been quoted the most, at least locally (as far as I know). He's communicated the above stuff very well. Kudos during a difficult season for them.

If there's a link to donate to rebuild the churches, perhaps it could be posted here?

I suspect a Baptist's wife was seduced by the preacher.

This is very sad. I hope the person is caught but more than that I pray he will come to know Christ.

I'm just glad it's not all black churches being burned or else Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be blaming Bush, like they said would happen if he won office. The only difference between Jackson and Sharpton and the Grand Wizard of the KKK is one wears suits, the other wears sheets.
