    Exodus 19:1-2 (KJV)
1: In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
2: For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

Where is the true location of Mount Sinai?

Like Mt. Ararat, we may never know. What we do know is that it was in MIDIAN, and that most scholars agree that Midian never controlled the Sinai peninsula...

If we find Mt. Sinai, we may find the Red Sea crossing route...

I recently picked up a very interesting book on this subject, The Miracles of Exodus: A Scientist's Discovery of the Extraordinary natural Couses of the Biblical Stories by Colin J. Humphreys. Copyright 2003 by Colin J. Humphreys, HarperCollins Publishers
    ISBN 0-06-051404-3
You'll love his discourse on Yam Suph. I don't know about his explanation on the parting of the sea, though...
He also uses the screwy Egyptian Chronology to explain Ramses II's continued long reign (this will come up in another thread someday...)
