    In the Army, MPRJ - means - Military Personnel Records Jacket
    Not sure what the other branches call it -

    But here is the actual question:

    Do you maintain the military records of your service time.

    If so how many of them do you have?

    If so why did you keep them?

    As far as I know, I have kept 100% of all my personnel records

    Why? You never know when you need them! and in this day and age
    of Facebook-- by looking at my old orders - It is easier to find the old buddies on FB, ect.

    I have all my records; DD-214, APR's (Airman Performance Reviews), orders, promotion notices, certificates et al. At this point I keep them as part of the legacy I want to hand down to my daughter and future grandchildren.

    At one time I did.

    I remember when we had to review our records and make correction in pencil.

    I stopped when it went electronic. I have everything on a disk. I keep a hard copy of my 214 and retirement orders.

    Many years ago DA gave me a copy of my MPRJ on Microfiche (remember that?)
    I just prefer to have hard copy.

    I'm missing a few sets of orders from 98 to 2000, for some TDY trips. Otherwise, I have hard copies of all promotions, academic reports, NCOERs (missing the two from when I was an E5), OERs, 214s, awards, retirement points statements, & etc.

    Everything is uploaded to IPERMS now, so I download that every year or so just in case.

    I wish I had kept all that stuff. I had lots of pictures of my time in the service, but unfortunately they all went up in smoke when my house burned down many years ago. Sad to lose them, but everyone got out okay and that is what was most important.

    Glad everyone was safe, but man, that's terrible. I know most of my stuff is online digital, but there's still a bunch I couldn't replace if lost. German jump wings certificate, exercise certificates from Korea and Thailand, and all of my coins.

    Yes, I still have my original DD 214, I had to present it when I applied for Social Security. I also kept my citation for my ARCOM and medal. I suppose I am proud I served as best I could, and did not dishonor my family.
