ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A Muslim convert from Brooklyn was sentenced Friday to nearly 12 years in prison for posting online threats against the creators of the "South Park" television show and others he deemed enemies of Islam.

The sentence -- largely in line with the term sought by prosecutors -- came after Jesse Curtis Morton, 33, offered an apology for his conduct, saying he "contributed to a clash of civilizations" by espousing a violent ideology.

In most U.S. jurisdictions it is a misdemeanor unless a weapon is involved in which case it is a felony.
Yes but the problem is that such laws are laws of convenience. They are only enforced when it is politically correct or someone is singled out. I am reminded of the black panthers and the Tyron case where they called for assassination and nothing was done. My question was this the intent of the original founders of the constitution? Why could it not be considered a threat to tell someone they will go to hell if they do not repent? It is a very vague law.
