    Here's a simple example ...

This simply applies to absolutely everyone on the planet ...

    Rev 21:7-8
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
    which is the second death.

Of course, it helps to understand what "overcoming" means (hint: not 1 John 5:5).
    Gee, this is fun!

Christians habitually doing any of these sins (above)
(and there are several more similar deadly lists)
who do not repent properly before they die ...
will go into the lake of fire, which is the second death!

Sorry ... if you're a Champion OSAS swimmer, I don't think it will help you very much.

So only those who have attained the state of sinless perfection make heaven? When did you obtain that?

The quote you gave does not support your spin on it.

But 1Cor 6 and 1John 2 and 3 seem to fit that quote.

    Thoughts?

    Bible reading?

real chrsitians can at times do bad sins, but that is against their new natures, and will repnet and forsake and return to the lord in time, while mere professing ones do same sins and keep on doing them, no repenting nor forsaking!

ALl important is what happens after you commit the sinning! back to jesus and get cleaned up, or staying in the mud!

Truly, I have no idea what you're talking about! ... Why not explain?

E.G. When Jesus says "ALL" liars, that's what He means! ... ALL unrepentant liars!

Jesus was referring to those who would be still lost in their sins, might even profess salvation, but th evidence was that they lived in a continual basis from their flesh and in continual sinning!

REAl christians can and still do sin, even badly at times, but will seek to repent forsake and be restored!

There are several problems with your analysis.

    1. Salvation is broader than merely obtaining entrance into heaven.

    2. The Bible does admit to "tares" or false professions - 1 Jn. 2:19; Mt. 13

    3. Overcoming has a past, present and future application and these applications do not apply to the same aspect of salvation.

    4. You are teaching salvation ultimately by works

Salvation is designed for the WHOLE human being who is multidimensional in nature. Salvation for the immaterial aspect of human nature is diverse from the physical aspect of human nature. Salvation of the daily life is diverse in its consequences and application than to the legal position of a human being before God.

Sorry but salvation is not as simplex as many assume when attacking the Biblical view of salvation. There is a past completed application of salvation that has in view one dimension of human nature whereas there is a present progressive application that has in view another diverse dimension of human nature, and then there is a future tense completed aspect of salvation yet applied to another diverse aspect of human nature.

Salvation of one's daily life is far different than salvation of the human "spirit" or the physical body. The daily life can be saved and lost on a daily basis and has a completely different eternal consequence. Thus overcoming in that area of salvation is based upon that portion which is saved on a daily basis. Our works must be distinguished from the works of Jesus Christ and their efficacy must be equally distinguished as well.

That vie wof his though does seem to place becoming like jesus as a prequisete to becoming saved by God, so he is really teaching a type of RCC theology, of one becoming "overcoming" enough in daily living to merit being finally saved!

    Exactly!

He is replacing the completed finished work of Christ's works in Christ's life with our works in our life as the ultimate basis for justification. Just like Rome he confuses justification by faith with progressive sanctification by works. They are distinct and have different consequences.

thew SDA seem to do the same thing, as both of them want to kep the law in order to merit salvation, beingjustified by God due to their work efforts in the end...

To me, this is the subtle but important differnce...

We "keep" the law in the sense that after saved by grace of God, we live in a way of obeying him, as showing fruit of being saved..

They view "keeping" the Law as way to earn rightousness enough to merit getting savd in the end!

The consequences are loss of eternal life, as per dozens of warning passages.
And don't give us any bull about all kinds of different types of eternal lives.

This explains why there are MANY dozens of warning passages:
-- by Jesus in the gospels to everyone
-- by the epistle writers to the churches
-- by Jesus in Rev 2-3 to the 7 churches

Lots of warnings for everyone to ignore!

The post-apostolic disastrous combo of da great deceiver Satan and church leaders
came up with cessationism, so I figure why not include OSAS!
Variety is the spice of life ... Two is always better than one ... etc.

There are many excellent reasons for the church leaders to promote both.
But, no one will want to hear them.
Put everything on ignore ... is da battle cry of the Laodiceans!

    Which echos Paul's words in 1Cor 6.

You are missing the point - in the texts above - these texts are not addressing the unsaved and explaining that the unsaved are now "unsaved-ER" because of some bad decision.

Pulpit pounding not withstanding these texts above - apply to the brethren - to those who are saved -- to those who have this 1Co6 element in their past - "11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

No way to bend-wrench the Bible with some healthy dose of pulpit pounding to get out of this detail in scripture.

Hopefully we can both agree on that point.

    in Christ,

    Bob

    Bob,

Here's what I've decided on for the 5 additions to the OP list ...

Matt 6:15 • Forgive men’s sins against you, or God will not forgive your sins against Him.
Matt 13:3-8,18-23 • 2 examples of coming to life, and then returning to the lost state.
Matt 18:21-35 • Not forgiving others causes God to revoke His forgiving us.
Rom 11:20-22 • By faith, continue in God’s goodness & fear, otherwise you will be cut off.
Gal 5:1-4 • It is possible for a Christian to be estranged from Christ and fall from grace.

the Church historically has seen that thre Apostles had unique gifts to heal and do miracles, and that NONE qualified to have them since John!
Also that tongues ceased, except among aberrant /non biblcal cultic "christian groups"

Are you saying the entire church erred 1900 years, and God finally decided to set it straight in 1905?

And jesus taught OSAS, I would trust his view!

Aside from the two resources of "you quoting you" and "you name calling" - did you have anything for your idea that might possibly be of interest to someone that is not already "you"?? Because many among the rest of use are somewhat tied to the idea of "sola scriptura" testing and not settling for the old dark ages solution of "Quoting yourself", or "just quoting tradition" and of course the ubiquitous "name-calling".
