Smith's cell phone was found inside his car, and authorities "don't know why he didn't try to call someone"
Family members previously said they suspected foul play in Smith's death due to the strange circumstances under which his car was found. When reached by phone early Tuesday afternoon, Smith's mother, Kim Smith, said she had just learned authorities closed the case and said, "I've still got to talk to them again," and, "It's so confusing to us still."
