    “We approached the musical with a 1970s flavor,” said Drew Deapo, the musical's technical director at J-E high school.

    This would be reason enough to boycott.:laugh:

    Video of the upset stage mother addressing the school board [skip to 1:47:30]. Later on a former student defends the play's directress as being very committed to 'diversity':

    Turns out the directress cast a male student in one of the female featured roles.

    Here he is in costume as Evillene, the role played by Mabel King (Raj and Dee's Mama on What's Happening!) on Broadway:
