My church was established in 1891 as Island Creek Baptist Church (not from a small stream of the same name. Later, it was renamed East Baptist Church. The reason is shrouded in mystery. The mystery is intensified because the church was located on Paducah, Kentucky's south side. We re-located farther south outside the city 20 years ago--but retained the name of East Baptist Church.

4 out of 5 visitors recommend it. The 1 who opposed mysteriously vanished and was never seen again.

Our church is called Exciting First Assembly of God.... because we're original.

Personally, I would hope that the name of any church with which I am, have been or ever may be associated with, would stand for something, as opposed to "falling under" anything.

I hope that the Forks of Dix River Baptist church will always meet this category, as she has for 225+ years. Incidentally, there is no actual Forks of the Dix River (the closest thing to that being a "Hanging Fork" creek), although this area of KY has been known as that, ever since it was settled.

    Our church is Holy Rood

Why do so many American Churches have the word 'First' in their names? Is it because they got there first? Or they think they're the most important in the town's ranking?

We have a First AND a Second and they were started in that order.

And if you don't think your church is the best...you need to find another church.
