I'd urge anyone in the locations listed at the end of this article to participate. We handed the government power on a silver platter when it comes to our families, and they're out of control. While we had the best of intentions, it has gone too far, and I can personally say that as I've experienced what they can and will do. When you read the part about the abuse registry, please remember that CPS has placed ME on the registry for ten years. I have never been charged with a crime, I have never been to court, nobody has ever found any evidence of my children being neglected or abused, and most important my children are NOT abused and if they were I'd be the first person to turn myself in! My crime was that I ticked off a social worker and this was part of her retribution, and there's nothing I can do about it. Please, for my sake and for other families like mine, consider participating.
Here is the press release. Don't panic over the copyright, the author said I could use it.

    Set Our Children Free
    Nationwide Protest December 1, 2004

On December 1st, 1955, a young African-American woman, Rosa Parks, took a stand against injustice by refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. Her courage, fortitude and determination sparked the fires of protest that gave birth to the civil rights movement.

Forty nine years later, it is necessary to follow the example set by this brave woman. Parents are coming together to declare their refusal to accept the exploitation of their children who are being taken unjustly from them and thrust into foster care and adoption. This unnecessary removal of children by our government is estimated at 3,000 per day in America.

Kidnapped children languish for years, locked away in strange foster homes, group homes or therapeutic "facilities", growing despondent, and heartbroken while yearning for family and freedo. Children become state property, and as foster children, are subject to be truly abused, starved, beaten, raped, drugged, and all too often killed in these government sanctioned "homes" and facilities.

Parents are coerced to participate in government approved, court ordered "programs" often at the expense of their jobs, homes, marriage, and sometimes even their very lives under the threat of never seeing their children again. These hapless parents are then placed on government "abuse registries" virtually guaranteeing that many of them will never be able to find suitable employment again.

After being compelled to participate in and endure all the government mandated classes, evaluations, treatments and therapies, tragically, most parents still do not regain their children. Our government has become so good at taking children from their families, the rules and policies they use are constantly streamlined and unfortunate, parents are relieved of their children in no time.

The government agency responsible is known by various names throughout the nation, but whatever name is used, they are present in virtually every county in every state. These agencies are commonly known as "Child Protective Services" or "CPS" is the largest and most out-of-control bureaucracy in the entire United States; each day conducting thousands of kangaroo courts, in which every parent is guilty, until proven innocent. Abuses and errors in judgment are common. Instead of receiving comfort and encouragement, innocent parents are often drawn into a system that has a pathetic record of protecting the children entrusted to it and a grizzly history of family annihilation.

Numerous studies have uncovered the festering corruption within CPS; corruption that is deeply embedded which is causing this "invisible family holocaust" in our nation. The Child Abuse and Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) is to blame for creating federal financial incentives for the county run CPS agencies to take children from their birth fmilies and maintain them in foster care.

If you think it isn't happening here in America, think again.

Time after time, special commissions have also uncovered scandals and corruption within the Family and Juvenile courts and the associated Bars that support them. These investigations have shown, over and over, that families are being systematically and recklessly destroyed through unlawful adversarial practices yet the child abuse industry grows and flourishes.

Foster children are the most under-represented group in our human society, enduring involuntary removal from their families and often being used as income by government funded foster homes, group homes and therapeutic facilities. In these settings, they are often sexually and physically abused, starved and frequently forced into slavery. They live in these make-believe families until they turn 18 and then are discarded to live on the streets and fend for themselves.

If you are a parent or foster child, or someone who wans to voice your opinion on these disturbing issues, or if you have been unjustly denied custody of your children by the family and juvenile courts, its time to join us in this protest to bring CPS into compliance with the law.

On December 1st, 2004, in commemoration of the courage and example set by Rosa Parks, the American Family Rights Association in cooperation with it's membership, member organizations and family advocates, will be gathering nationwide at the following locations and peacefully protesting at court-houses, social service agencies, and capital buildings to protest this war on families.

Lead-in post: "These hapless parents are then placed on
government "abuse registries" virtually guaranteeing that
many of them will never be able to find suitable employment again."

As an employer, how do i get to check my prospective
employee against this list? If the "abuse registry" is
confidential and reserved for use only by CPS and
legal authorities, how can i do
my Churchs background check on our
    employees?

Bible Thumper, I had the article emailed to me by the author, as I'm a member of a number of family rights type associations. See if your town and state is listed and contact the person listed under it. If not, come join this group and get more info. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nationwideprotest/

Ed, you need to email this person:
    [email protected]
State something to the effect of: I am an employer and want to know how I can access Child Abuse Central Registry in order to perform checks on those I hire to perform child care.
I can't find the direct link for your state, which is odd. In mine the info is listed online, you pay a nominal fee and show you're an employer to gain access.

Ed, our church does an extensive background check on everyone who works with our children. Even if they only are an AWANA listener in a full room of listeners, they must allow for a YEARLY background check. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean we'll be able to catch all abusers.

I've worked with foster children who were being re-introduced to their real family and can say that in every single one of those cases, the child was saved from being in an abusive or exploitative situation. I know that bad things can happen and that CPS isn't infallible, but they do a lot of good in protecting children.

Scott, I agree that they do a lot of good. The point of most of us who are unhappy with the system is that when they do bad, there is little to no recourse for the family unless they happen to be set financially.
What's sad also is the number of foster parents who no longer take in children because of how the system works, and the two seconds it can take for some anonymous person to make a false allegation and destroy their lives.
And that backfires. When decent foster parents quit less acceptable choices are used, and then there's even more abuse.
    Something must be done.

diane, our soccer association has the same policy, and while it's infuriating that we aren't 100% sure, our legal advisor says that we are "safe" because we've done everything that could reasonably be done.

That's not very satisfying. The point is protect the kids, not CYA.
