in another thread I stated that ALL the attributes and such from the fact that God is LOVE

Love being the foundation or key element from which all the rest of God can if such was possible be derived.

    Another poster disagreed

" BTW, God’s attributes are not founded in His love. My God is not a one-dimensional Being. "

    Any opinions

You seem to be saying that all attributes of God somehow flow from the attribute of Love. That love is somehow a "foundational" attribute of God. That may put too much emphasis on Love, to the neglect of the other attributes.

If I were thinking along those lines, however, I would see all the other attributes flowing from God's Holiness.

    Holiness being "otherness" or "wholly-otherness".

    peace to you [IMG]

John, in 1 John, says simply and plainly, "God is love." That is the only time a noun is used to describe God, as far as I can remember right now. Everything else is adjectives: He is just, He is righteous, He is merciful, etc.

Are all these attributes of love? Perhaps an argument could be made for that. For God so loved the world...

the Incarnation involved satisfying justice, righteousness and yet supplying mercy and compassion to all who respond. This was done from a character of love.

    Don't underestimate love!

Jesus is the "Word", "light", "life", "resurrection", "way", "truth", "true vine", "true bread from heaven", etc... all are nouns.

God the Father is "Father", "Creator", "Savior", "I am", etc.. nouns. There are many more.

No one is underestimating love or denying it's importance. Let's just not neglect a fuller understanding of God's nature.

    peace to you [IMG]
