A television doctor who believed he caught coronavirus through his eyes on a plane, and was left fighting for his life in the hospital, has tested negative for COVID-19, he confirmed.

Dr Joseph Fair, an infectious disease expert who spent his life studying deadly viruses, including Ebola, documented his struggle on social media and on NBC, where he works as a contributor.

The 42-year-old said he was severely sickened by something, but it was not COVID-19.

His illness 'remains an undiagnosed mystery', he said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Another premature ear-tickling new headline written by a reporter intent on making money rather than informing and teaching the public.

Even the doctor doesn’t believer the results of the first negative test... a nasal swab.
Nasal swab testing is only about 70% accurate in testing with known Covid-19 victims.

The article says it was recommended that he get another test of a different variety.

And we will probably never hear of the results of that test, will we?

The science of the test is important too.

The body fights the virus with a variety of strategies.
    One way will produce antibodies...
Another way (t-cells) doesn’t produce antibodies.

The takeaway is a negative antibody test doesn’t always mean you never had the virus, only that your body did not produce antibodies against the virus.

If it looks like a duck,
    and quacks like a duck,
    and waddles like a duck,
    it probably is a duck.
