new laptop

    It pops a window up stating Defender has been turned off. It gives no instructions how to turn it on?

    control panel/action center should offer the ability to turn defender on..

    If it tells you it can't be turned on get the malware software running.

    I just renewed my Norton account, never could get Windows Defender to open up? I'll give this laptop a year then I'm going to by a top-o-the-line laptop if this keeps this up.

    It is not the laptop it is a windows 8 thing. Those of us with the current version of windows 8 are the guinea pigs to help MS work out the bugs.

    I really had a difficult time learning Windows 8 and still struggle with it. I guess we are stuck with this style of OS. I wish I had my old Commodore, LOL no I don't.

    It is better to just stick with windows 7 right now.

    http://www.eightforums.com/ has a ton of info on 8 and there are lots of tutorials if you find problems. There is sevenforums as well for wndows 7.
