Pentagon advisor and national defense analyst Bob Maginnis says the New York Times missed the facts in its recent effort to convince people that the military was dishonorable, and the Pentagon a brainless bureaucratic desert.

I knew it when first read it.

The Slimes is incapable of being honest about veterans issues.

I pray none of my grandkids are ever desperate or stupid enough to join the armed forces. The people who join have good intentions but I don't want them killed to make money for the oil companies.

Yes, and let's not forget about "curveball" who was also in the New York Times.

I think our military and our veterans deserve more respect than this.

I'm sure the ones who have died to give you the freedom to write such trash appreciate your gratitude.

May you enjoy your freedoms in proportion to your appreciation for the cost to attain them! (You aren't from Berkley are you?)

So only desperate people join the military? Or only stupid people join the military? How sad! And the line about oil companies is really getting old. That's what they said during Desert Storm and it didn't happen!

As an active duty military member I have great respect for each Soldier, Marine, Airman and Sailor who has volunteered to serve his country. We follow the orders of our president, but we serve the United States of America. That will be true whoever the next president is as well.

I'm sorry that your hatred for our current Commander in Chief now spills over to those of us serving our country.

Um, where did billwald use the word "hatred," or even discuss the POTUS?
Let's stick to what billwald actually wrote.

    Right!

Everyone knows it is impossible to relate feelings through tone alone.

WHAT "ONE?" Are you kidding me? This is cyberspace, and you are READING comments - you don't hear anything.

I doubt you know billwald personally, so it is wrong to simply assume anything about someone's beliefs opinions etc. when the person in question never used the words in their comments.

Maybe on Planet Carpro, but here in the real world, a discerning person sticks to what is actually written. In this particular case, billwald never mentioned Bush at all, nor did he express a hatred for him.

Sorry: to claim that someone believes something when that person never said anything approaching what is claimed is not only intellectually dishonest, but conduct unbecoming.

Regards, hope all is well in Tennessee,
BiR (who will be in Knoxville very soon!)

And this message is too short.

All is indeed well. The Vols beat Miss St tonight (although did their dead level best to give the game back after a huge lead).

Ever occur to you that it might be an allusion to a discussion in another thread?

    Well hello there, Aaron.
Not sure why you are directing comments at me, but thanks anyway.

A good rule of thumb is to stick to the subject at hand, especially given the fact that the claim was made in response to a comment that was made in this forum. No mention was made of any other discussion, and no other comment was referenced.

    Again, thanks anyway,
    BiR
