Rev. Billy Graham In Frail Health

The Associated Press reported from IRVING, Texas - The Rev. Billy Graham plans to speak on four consecutive days at Texas Stadium starting Thursday in what could be the last revival meeting the evangelist ever holds after more than a half-century of preaching.

Graham turns 84 on Nov. 7, suffers from Parkinson's disease (news - web sites), underwent surgery to remove fluid from his brain two years ago and is generally in frail health. While in Cincinnati for a meeting in June, Graham said that he felt weaker than ever. He has announced no future meetings, and an aide said he will weigh his plans after the Texas event.

Graham's finances are an open book reported Darren Barbee -Star-Telegram Staff Writer on October 12, 2002 based on statements made by a Graham's spokewoman?

Early in Billy Graham's career, the preacher made a series of calculated decisions to insulate his ministry from the temptations of greed.

"He was aware that a lot of evangelists had been shipwrecked by their weakness for money or women," said William Martin, a Rice University sociology professor who is Graham's biographer.

Today, after Graham's more than 50 years in ministry, Christians and non-Christians know the North Carolina preacher's reputation for financial integrity. It's a reputation that has helped pack stadiums around the world and is expected to help draw more than 200,000 to Texas Stadium in Irving during a four-day mission beginning Thursday.

… The Minneapolis-based organization's finances are available for public examination on IRS returns called Form 990s, and they are broken down in an annual audit prepared by accounting firm Ernst & Young. The most recent audit found no material weaknesses in the ministry's 2001 finances, a Graham spokeswoman said.

… In 2000, Graham was paid $197,911, plus benefits and an expense account, for his work as chairman of his ministry, according to the organization's Form 990.

But the Star-Telegram and the Graham spokeswoman failed to point out the fact that Graham worked less than 25 days in 2000 and no other employee in his organization is paid 100 % salary for being sick 80 percent of the time! As a matter of fact Graham has worked less than 50 percent of the time for the last ten years. He has spent more than 50 percent of his time in the hospital or in bed.

The Star-Telegram and the Graham spokeswoman also failed to point out all the things that are charged to his organization that are not included in his total compensation including a full time nurse for his wife and Billy, a private secretary to meet their every whims, and other personal expenses that are charged directly to the corporation. That is why the Graham's never release their personal income tax to the public because they would have to list these things as benefits.

    Billy Graham doesn't work 100 % of the time and isn't entitled to a 100 % salary.

    The Star-Telegram and the Graham spokeswoman also failed to point out the fact that Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization of Canada refused to provide the total compensation of Billy Graham when requested by Wally Duncaster. As a matter of record Scott Wiebe of the BGEO of Canada in his email of July 30, 2002 on the subject of the total compensation of Billy Graham and Franklin Graham stated;

"I do not believe charitable Associations in Canada are obligated to publicly declare the compensation directly supplied to an individual employee, but I would think they will be able to provide you with a financial report that will give you a fair indication of their compensation expenses."

So Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization of Canada has refused to give the total compensation of Billy Graham even though BGEO tax exemption came from the public and not from God? So much for their perceived integrity of the lack of it!

Also if we examine the form 990 for BGEA and the Samaritaln Purse we find that Cliff Barrows who is quite old is also still on the payroll receiving a 100 percent salary and claiming to work 40 hrs per week. While Franklin Graham claims to work 80+ HRS/WK NOT INCLUDING HUNTING TRIPS TO ALASKA?

Franklin Graham is nothing but a conartist and a lazy bum who formed a nonprofit organization so that he could have a nice life style at the expense of others. On September 11,2002 while Kenneth Copeland was preaching in New York, Franklin Graham was hunting up in Alaska killing wildlife.

The gospel according to Franklin Graham is Attacking Islam, taking on civil-rights groups -- Billy Graham's son steps out from the shadow of his famous father reported Jennifer Garza -- Bee Staff Writer.

...Next month, people of many beliefs will get together for special interfaith services in memory of last year's tragedy. Graham says that at this time he has no plans to participate in any special services next month. "That's the beginning of hunting season," he says. "I'll probably be in Alaska at that time."

An apple doesn't fall far from the tree? The Star-Telegram and the Graham spokeswoman did talk much about Ned or Franklin Graham the sons of Billy Graham? If I was in the ministry I would not support my sons if there were corrupt and sick like Ned and Franklin, while Billy does. But he didn't support Ned's divorced wife who was innocent and didn't deserve the hell that Ned put her through! www.christianitytoday.com/ct/9te/9te026.html ,

"Total Compensation" is more than your basic minimum salary. It includes everything including housekeeping, servants, cars and other perks. For Southern Baptist Billy Graham it includes the support staff and nurses who provide him with 24 hr care at his home!

Billy Graham who has legally been stealing his full salary and other benefits for the last fifty years is unique in his special privileges in his non-profit religious organization as no other employee in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization other than Billy Graham is paid a full one hundred percent salary and is allowed to spend fifty percent of his time in bed or at the hospital.

NEXT TIME The Star-Telegram MUST NOT ACCEPT AT FACE VALUE WHAT THE LIARS and the Graham spokeswoman AT BGEA TELLS THEM BUT MUST DO THEIR OWN HOMEWORK. For the following facts are undeniable and true about Billy:

    1) taking 100 % salary at 83 years of age and working less than 25 percent
    2) being a friend of Nixon and a bigot against the Jews
    3) writing a letter to Nixon to bomb the dykes of North Vietnam
    4) unsure that heaven is a right place for him
    5) unconditional support of Clinton and his forgiveness of Clinton
    6) using a Ghost writer to write his books
    7) forming ECFA to protect his interests and cook the books
    7) supporting a son, Ned, who was a drunk, adulterer, immoral and had no integrity
    8) giving his ministry to Franklin who is as deceitful as his father and a bum and a thief

eaglewings the Bible tells us not to judge another mans servant. I don't know and I don't care what your problem is with the Graham family but I don't appreciate it at all. Your posts are mean spirited and in poor taste. If you disagree with Billy's salary then please don't send him any money, past that I suggest you drop this issue. For a person to complain because a servant of God who is in poor health and advanced age is receiving his full salary they must have some real issues to work out. I know several churches who would love to have their beloved pastor back so they could care for them instead they are gone on to their reward. I will say this of Billy, I am certain that whatever he receives here will pale in comparison to his reward in heaven. Ofcourse you may dissagree with that too so why not take up your whining with God. As a matter of fact that is where this should have been taken is to God and no further, maybe by doing so God could help you with your apparent problem.

Right on Murph. We ought to thank our great God for the blessings bestowed rather than complain about the weaknesses displayed.

I could list a whole lot of things I dislike, but the one thing I can't criticize, is that Dr. Graham has served God, and many of our churches have benefitted from his organization.

Even the old and failing Bev Shea returned to his little hometown in Ontario and did a one-man benefit concert for the locals. More than 1200 people attended and that is a marvellous testimony in itself for one who sang of His love for so many years.

God bless Dr. Graham, wife and family. Thank you, we appreciate what you have done.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Murphy you stated we must not judge another mans servant?

So how do you reconcile the words of Jesus with out judging:
7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
7:16 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
7:17 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
7:18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
7:19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
7:20 "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
7:22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matthew

HOW ABOUT THE WORDS OF PAUL?

20:26 "Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
20:27 "For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
20:28 "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
20:29 "For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
20:30 "Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
20:31 "Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
20:32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
20:33 "I have coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel.
20:34 "Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.
20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Acts

IT SEEMS BILLY GRHAMAM'S MOTO IT IS MORE BLESSED TO RECEIVE THAN TO GIVE WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT MONEY. THAT IS WHY HE DOESN'T RELEASE HIS PERSONAL INCOME TAX WHEN PRESIDENT CLINTON DID AND BUSH DOES!

Hmmm. I'm gonna try this again on this board. [IMG]

EagleWings: "8) giving his ministry to Franklin who is as deceitful as his father and a bum and a thief "

MENDOZA, Argentina–In the coming months, thousands of local volunteers will join together to organize the Festival de Esperanza with Franklin Graham in Mendoza at Malvinas Argentinas Stadium, Nov. 14-16, 2002. “We’ve delivered relief and aid to Argentina many times, but this visit I look forward to bringing God’s message to the area,” said Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham. “People will hear a lot of music from award-winning artists, personal testimony, and most importantly, an opportunity to change their life.” Graham, who accepted local church leaders’ invitation to lead the event, will bring a message of hope and freedom at the three-day Festival, which will also feature music . . .
    http://www.demossnewspond.com/fgf/releases/argentinacaladv52202.htm

....Is Franklin Graham intolerant! No, of course not! Listening to him, it’s quite clear that he has a love and a burden for all people of all races and creeds. But this man of God would not allow the thought police to intimidate him into compromising his beliefs, or denying his God! Graham is a believer in the absolute truth that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he acknowledges that truth proudly before those who would scoff at him and ridicule him. In doing so, he has set an example for others to follow.
    http://contenderministries.org/commentary/notashamed.php

Ya know, if I'm gonna ever be questioned about the misuse of money, I'd certainly hope it's be over something like this!
The Christian relief agency headed by Billy Graham's son did not break federal guidelines while using federal money for earthquake relief in El Salvador, a government agency said. Samaritan's Purse, which is led by Franklin Graham, has an agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to build more than $200,000 of metal and plastic shelters in El Salvador. USAID investigated Samaritan's Purse after a March 5 New York Times story raised questions about the group's use of the money. http://www.biblicalrecorder.org/content/news/2001/3_9_2001/text/Tne090301franklin.shtml

Start providing proof that Franklin Graham is a deceitful bum and thief, because the evidence sure doesn't point to that.

As long as he follows the law I am fine with it, if he runs afowl of the law I am sure they will handle it. There are probuly several in the IRS who hate this good man, maybe even as much as you seem to. :( You need to bark up another tree with this junk.

eaglewings, as you have judged, so will you be judged.

Who have you helped to know the Gospel? In what way is your character reflective of our Lord? How many have you assisted in hard times? I read in Romans 2 that it is the kindness of God that leads folk to repentance. How many people have found repentance in their hearts because of your kindness?

    Just thought I'd ask.

When you have been used by God in a similar fashion as Billy and Franklin Graham, you can voice a legitimate opinion. Until then, return to your nest [IMG] .

BTW, there are already 2 threads going regarding BG in the missions/evangelism thread.

    Dear eaglewings,

Certainly by now, you have spoken what is on your mind. Anything more becomes redundant and you start sounding like a wildman shouting into the wind. We all know where you stand on the Grahams, ghostwriting, etc. How many times are you going to repeat the same post?

Hint, hint...wildmen tend to be ignored and worst not taken seriously :(
But, if that's what you want...

Helen You haven't a clue what you are talking about. Dead words from dead people are dead the moment they are spoken and that includes Billy Graham.

Ask B.G.E.A. how many of those who have made a profession in Christ at their crusades have lasted. The figure is less than 5 %.

So what happened to the rest? Were they once saved always saved because they accepted Christ and then went back to their old ways?

Not surprising coming from a denomination whose roots was founded in racism prior to the Civil War when they split from the Northern Baptists because of the slave issues, were singing in the choir on Sunday and were burning crosses on Monday as active members of the Klu Klux Klan.

Speaking of a good success rate By Billy Bruce
Almost a quarter century after Idi Amin's reign of terror, Uganda is experiencing a spiritual harvest. According to one megachurch pastor, 92 percent of the 24 million population claims Christianity, with at least 75 percent truly born-again believers.

"Twenty-five years ago, 22 percent of the population were Muslims," Kayanja said. "Today, only 6 percent are Muslims."

Does Billy or Franklin Graham have this success rate?

eaglewings, I have disagreements with the things Graham and co. have done as well as you do, but my beef here is not for him as much as it is against your way of posting.

God uses whom He will when He will and He is the one who judges the heart.

Please settle down and think about building up the body of Christ instead of trying to judge others.

What have YOU posted here that helps anyone with their faith, their life, or even the minute they are living right now?

Helen here is a good idea The Baptist Press reported today A recent statistic reported by the Southern Baptist Convention reveals that 88 percent of children who are raised in evangelical homes leave the church at the age of 18 and never return. http://www.sbcbaptistpress.org/bpnews.asp?ID=14445

So if our kids are not brought up as evangelicals we will not lose them?

I would encourage everyone, to pray for the success of this revival.

And, yet, you claim they're not. Why should we believe you over the Star-Telegram?

Early in Billy Graham's career, the preacher made a series of calculated decisions to insulate his ministry from the temptations of greed.

Which makes it all the more sad that you would undertake this crusade to smear a good man.

This isn't what you've been saying. Please explain.

It might be a good idea for you to write to the BGEA board of Trustees and ask about this, yourself.

A secretary is not a private expense and if a nurse is required to ensure that Reverend Billy is able to do his work properly, then it's perfectly appropriate fior him to have one.

    Heresay.

His Board of Trustees says differently and it's their call to make, not yours.

    (a) Who is Wally Duncaster and (b) what obligation did BGEA have to turn over any records to him?

You still haven't demnstrated why they didn't turn over their records or why they should have.

How do you know he doesn't work 40 hours per week?

    Please see above.

    Please demonstrate.

Wait a second, you say that Bily and Franklin Graham are con artists and false teachers, yet you let Kenneth Copeland (a man with too many false teachings to list here) off the hook???

Also, the morality of hunting is another topic entirely.

There are several of us hunters here who would be happy to engage you in another thread, if you like.

I don't know that Franklin Graham has said anything about Islam that isn't true.

Moreover, the entire Graham family have been leaders for civil rights.

Let's not forget that Billy Graham insisted that his crusades be integrated at a time when such things were not done and he did it in the deep South, no less.

Wait a second! In another thread, you blasted him for his eccuminism (sp?). Now, you're condemning him for not taking place in an eccumenical meeting?

    Make up your mind.

In all of this time, you've never demonstrated that they were corrupt or sick.

If I were a father and my son behaved like you are, I wouldn't support him, either.

Like I said in a preious thread, just be glad God doesn't feel the same way about you as you think Billy should feel about his sons.

This article doesn't say anything at all abotu Billy Graham's treatment of his daughter in law and for you to offer it as some sort of "proof" is an outright deception.

The Lord hates a lying tongue, eaglewings.

Actually, under new federal law, they would be.

But you've lied and expect us top take youat face value. Isn't this just a bit hypocritical?

If that's what the BGEA Board of Trustees agreed on, then God bless him.

You've still never explained the "friend of Nixon" thing and you've never explained why we should condemn him for one care less comment when his sixty years of ministry, his history of support for civil rights and his having reached out to people of all races, religions and ethnicities say that he isn't a bigot.

Again, where can we find this letter and, again, so what?

Again, he was making a self depricating joke. He has preached enough on salvation and said often enough that he is assured of his salvation that I think we can safely assume he knows where he is going.

He has tried to reach out to Bill Clinton but ha never condoned his sins. Good for him. Maybe we should all try that.

    Again, so what?

Heresay and rumor. You've never demonstrated anything of the sort.

Does that mean that you also condemn God for reaching out to you when you were lost?

Isn't it just a little hypocritical of you to accuse anyone of "immorality" and having "no integrity" when you have lied and slandered your way through several posts now?

More heresay and rumor. You still haven't demonstrated any of this.

    [/quote]

These are opinion pieces, not to be confused with unbiased journalism.

Eaglewings, one of the things that jumps out at me about your posts is that not one single time have you said that you pray for Billy Graham or his family and not once have you encouraged anyone to pray for him, yet you fall all over yourself to spread lies, rumors and heresay about him.

To tell you the truth, I think all of this says a lot more about you than it does about the Grahams.

    Still praying for you,

    Mike
