I come from a long line of hard shell Baptists. Needless to say, I no longer believe many Baptist teachings. So I am a former Baptist. So what. Many Catholics don't believe the Pope.

I put my faith in God's word the Bible, not man made organizations.

What's the basis for your faith?

    Bottom Line...Marijuana is illegal.

God did not tell us to obey the law if we agreed with it....God said OBEY THE LAW...period!

Agreed! And do we have so very stupid laws? Yes, but we still must obey them by order of God. I personally do not think marijuana should ever be legalized except for medical treatment in very specific cases.

Marijuana and it's cousin drug hashish are used by other governments to keep their poor content and docile with their impoverished nation. You have never heard of a group of drug users creating a revolution and overthrowing it's government, have you?

Our government uses a different drug to accomplish the same effect, it is just as habit forming as weed and keeps us at home waiting for the next installment (hit). It is called television. The original drug used by the US (and most others) was alcohol, soon replaced with radio. TV took over and satisfied many more people, video games became the drug of choice for children. Now the internet is the latest approved drug for the more intellegent or affluent.

If you find yourself taking any of these in more doses than 2 hours a week, you are hooked and you are an addict.

Why do some government use hashish while others use TV? It's cheaper to start using but TV creates more money for the nation's wealthy so it is the drug of choice if the people have at least the income to afford the more expensive addiction. It also allows the masses to live longer thus making the rich a long term income.

The basis for my faith is Jesus Christ.
However, the point of baptist-only forums is so that those who are baptist Christians can discuss issues from the common basis of their belief in Christ from the perspective of Baptists.
There are plenty of forums on here for all Christians. You are being asked not to post on this one anymore as of right now. If you wish to reply to me personally do it via pm, if you wish to continue your topic take it to a forum that includes all Christians, perhaps your rhetoric will be better tolerated there.

Could you please explain your statement about abortion before I answer your question?

Do you mean that because abortion is legal, and God says obey the law, that I should get an abortion???

Or do you mean that since abortion is legal, and God says obey the law, that I should stop telling people it is murder???

Ransford I have removed your use of the old quote that is racist and offensive, I understand this is not your quote but it shouldn't be here. I also have followed your admission that you are not a baptist so please don't post in any baptist only section. Doing so may result in disciplinary action.

what I mean is that if we are to obey the law then we should not be selective - abortion is legal so you should not protest it.

If a law is bad there is nothing wrong with working within the system to change it.

And this thread is about marijuana; not abortion.

so what is the problem with suggesting that pot be legalised? - there are a lot of people who think that criminalising cannabis is a 'bad' law

Is it some kind of record for a news story not to go to a 3rd page for nearly 5 months? [IMG]

I'm sure it's not, but I was very surprised to see this one resurrected.
