NFL Ratings Slide Is Getting Worse, with No End in Sight

Ratings for the National Football League have gotten worse as Week 11 passes in the rear-view, with the league losing one million viewers over the numbers from 2016 as protests during the national anthem continue.

With TV ratings off nearly 20 percent for the season over all, the networks have reportedly lost up to $500 million in ad revenue.

Yeah as really think that Goodell missed the boat over on fining or suspending the players that kneel down. Just IMHO!

The NFL has become way too oversaturated. There are 3 games you can watch on Sunday afternoon, a game on Sunday night, a game on Monday night, and a game on Thursday night. And the quality of play has become nothing to write home about. The Thursday night game needs to go away. And the games take too long(though not as long as college games). You can watch basically 2 soccer matches in the time it takes to watch an NFL or college football game.

About ten years ago NASCAR was all the rage and now it is back where it was for decades before. Baseball is now followed mainly on a regional basis, as is hockey. The NBA seems to be the sport on the upswing nationally, helped a lot by the greatness of Golden State(which pains me to write as a Spurs fan).

Agree with everything you say here. The NBA is gaining popularity because it is a fast moving sport with lots of scoring, played by exceptional athletes with amazing skill sets.

The NBA had also taken proactive steps to try to remove some of its negatives, like too many time outs and fourth quarters with the final 3 minutes taking half an hour to play.

They better take lessons from NASCAR.in an effort to appease critics, they drove away their base. Nascar is about to collapse. It is falling apart on all levels.
