In the past I have started a thread about the "Rope of Sand"
Which refers to Baptist churches - in that we have unity but
not to the point of being controlled.by a denomination.

    'ROPE OF SAND'

Well, Today, I was looking at the Independent Assembly of God
(kinda like the AOG version of IFB)

    Credentials | IAOGI

That have a statement that says:
    1. We recognize autonomy of the local church, however, it is not an island and is expected to serve in unity and fellowship.
I think I like that statement - and that it does apply to our Baptist churches.

    What say you?

I like the rope of sand better. I grew up hearing it. "The SBC is a rope of sand and if they try to control us, they can go pound sand.". Something like that anyway.

But is the New Testament a rope of sand?

If you mean the body of Christ as a whole, I do not think so.
Since Baptist churches are autonomous, each Baptist church is effectively a denomination in and of itself.

A lot of IFB do act as thought they are an Island!

So when some churches are so independent - that they do not want to fellowship
with other churches - even of "like faith" - would that be good or not good for that local church
