OK...what the heck is going on here?? Who's doing what?? A non-citizen kills our sailors 10 years ago...and we still haven't done anything???

I guess terrorist towelheads can blow up anything, anytime...and they'll never be tried for it.

Pathetic.

In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that "no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future."

The statement, tucked into a motion to dismiss a petition by Nashiri's attorneys, suggests that the prospect of further military trials for detainees held at Guantanamo Bay has all but ground to a halt, much as the administration's plan to try the accused plotters of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in federal court has stalled.

Military officials said a team of prosecutors in the Nashiri case has been ready go to trial for some time. And several months ago, military officials seemed confident that Nashiri would be arraigned this summer.

"It's politics at this point," said one military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss policy. He said he thinks the administration does not want to proceed against a high-value detainee without some prospect of civilian trials for other major figures at Guantanamo Bay.

We seem to screw up our response to islamo-terrorists at every point.

The big difference: In years past, it was poor judgment and sometimes incompetence. (Bush and some of his folks). Now, you have to consider treasonous behavior as a motivation (Eric Holder, the AG).

I'll say it again: If any of these combatants are ever released due to Holder's dangerous, pro-terrorist stance--he should be brought up on charges of treason, and if convicted, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Oh, I don't know. He's still being held in a jail cell, where he can't do any harm to others....

After Katrina, one of the guys I worked with was sitting on his porch, waiting for the electricity to come on, when a truck with Florida license plates pulled into his cul-de-sac. A couple of guys got out and started walking around. He called out to them and asked if there was something he could help them with. They laughed and said, "No, we're just looking to see what we can loot." He then picked up the shotgun he had sitting next to him and unloaded a round into their tailgate, which apparently motivated them to jump in the truck and leave.

He filed a report with the local police; a few days later, they called him and said they'd picked up the guys stealing stuff from other houses. He asked the policeman if they wanted him to come down and file a report or anything; the policeman laughed and said, "we got 'em under Homeland Security rules; they're not gonna see a judge for at least two years."

Works for me. Keep 'em locked up, even if it is at the taxpayer expense...because I'm too pessimistic to believe that anyone will actually enforce the death penalty, and they'll just end up in prison for life anyway.

Maybe we can put Eric Holder in the cell with him...they seem to both pose a danger to free Americans...

What an ignorant thing to say.

BTW, did you bother to read the entire article?

From the article:

The Defense Department issued a statement Thursday saying the case is not stalled. "Prosecutors in the Office of Military Commissions are actively investigating the case against Mr. al-Nashiri and are developing charges against him," the statement said.

And like Don pointed out:

Nashiri, who has been held at Camp 7 at Guantanamo Bay since September 2006, has never appeared in court.

Yes, I know the OMC are investigating.

But they are being stonewalled by the administration.

The administration originally, if you recall, wanted to try these goons in New York in a Civilian trial--afforded rights not guaranteed to them by our Constitution.

When that idea crashed and burned, now Holder and his minions are stringing everything along...but they're not letting our military folks do their jobs (as usual).

This guy should have been tried in a military tribunal and (if found guilty) executed years ago.

Note: I'm not happy with how inefficiently it was handled pre-Obama. But we've moved from sloppy to dangerous, IMO.

And yes...I did read the article. Cross-referenced it as well.

To prosecute terrorists, we have to first get rid of Obama and Eric Holder.

It's beginning to appear they may be more sympathetic to terrorists than they are to their victims.

Call me crazy or radical but it seems that the more transparant Obama becomes in his sympathy towards the Muslims, I have got to believe he is of the Islamic faith. There is too much smoke and where there is smoke there is FIRE. Go ahead and sent the crazy replies back, I'm ready.

I truly believe he feels America has been wrong for decades in our foriegn and domestic policies and he feels we owe the world for how terrible we've been, and at the top of the list is his Muslim friends. Unless you have counted the pro-abortion crowd in which he has bent over backwards to appease. Man the more I talk about him the sicker I get.

I am still trying to find out which Muslim paid his tuition...

I don't think he is a Muslim, but owes them something...

That is the feeling a lot of us are experiencing, that he owes the Muslims. I wonder how many promises he made to them during his campaign.

At this point I don't think that President Obama is anything except an first class opportunist who has a lot of bills to pay for his assent to the throne. Too bad the sovereignty of the United States is a part of the bill. The man and his administration are selling us out.
