Obama Errs in Saying Americans Invented Automobiles

    WASHINGTON -- It was clear from President Obama's address to Congress on Tuesday that he's a believer in the American automobile industry, but his grasp of automotive history suggests he could use a refresher course.

    Obama said his administration won't protect auto makers from their own bad practices but is committed to a retooled auto industry, saying, "I believe the nation that invented the automobile cannot walk away from it."

    The problem: The credit for internal combustion engines generally is given to German engineer, Karl Benz, who designed and built the world's first practical automobile in 1885. A steam-powered car was invented in 1769 by French inventor Nicolas Cugnot. Americans, on the other hand, are given credit for the mass production of cars.

    Here ya go folks. When Bush misspoke it was because he was stupid. When the "messiah" says something in complete error in history and fact it is simply misspoken. Did he "misspoke" when he said none of the mortgage bailout funds would go to irresponsible people?

    Did Barry misspeak when he said there were no earmarks in the Porkulous Bill.

    Axelrod is going to have to proofread Barry's speeches better.

    So you have a problem when liberals bashed Bush for misspeaking, yet you bash Obama for misspeaking?

    People make mistakes. Get over it. Bash Obama on the things that are worth bashing him on. Something like this just makes you look petty, especially since you are so angry that liberals did the same thing to Bush.

    You do not get to decide what anyone criticizes Obama for. You can place what ever label on it you want to but you do not get to assign emotion toward me you know nothing about. Doing so make you look petty and clearly have an agenda. And I have made a clear distinction between the two. You have enough to worry about within yourself rather than policing others posts which is petty in and of itself.

    Did Barry misspeak when he said that anyone making less than $250,000 would not have there taxes increased, "not a dime, not a single dime ..."?

    I believe that congressed passed the 2009 S-Chip Legislation and Barry signed it. Included in that bill was a 68 cent increase in per pack cigarette tax.

    Not a single dime, but 6 dimes, 1 nickel and 3 pennies ...

    Just words, just speeches.

    Barry is the name BHO went by when he attended school in Hawaii. Could call him Hussein, BHO or just BO.

    Also, who determines what names are acceptable? Has a new federal agency been created that I am unaware of?

    Yes...I have an agenda. That agenda is for each side to stop political bickering and stick to real issues. If you'd like me to not post when I see such political bickering, then don't post such things.

    No, I don't get to assign emotion to you. Only you can control your emotions. I can comment on what your emotions appear to be however.

    Issues, like lying, are determined by the individual. You do not get to decide for people what issues are important or not. Not that anyone takes your little show seriously.

    No you assign emotion as a debate tactic and nothing more.

    Please let me know what my "little show" is. Can I charge admission for it?

    I didn't realize this thread was about lying. In fact, your thread title said he "errs". That would indicate that he committed an error, not that he lied. Do you really think that he would lie about who invented the automobile? What purpose would that serve?

    Oh...and why did you bring up Bush? Like you said on another thread, "And Bush is relevant because why?"
