Obama ignorant (?) of our National Motto

Jury's out as to whether it's deliberate or not. Who knows?

But the fact remains: Bush makes that mistake, and the press would wet themselves.

Last month, while speaking at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, Mr. Obama was trying to stress the similarity of the U.S. and Indonesia and said "it is a story written into our national mottos."

"In the United States, our motto is E pluribus unum — out of many, one," he said, then compared it to the Indonesian motto, "Bhennika Tunggal Ika — unity in diversity."

The official motto of the U.S., designated by a 1956 law, is "In God We Trust." E pluribus unum is the motto on the Great Seal of the United States, and appears on the ribbon held in the beak of the eagle that dominates the obverse side of the seal.

I think it illustrates the following:

  • Obama would rather score points with like-minded folks on a philosophical basis, rather than get his facts straight.
  • To Obama, "diversity" is so much more important than Judeo-Christian heritage. He'll brag about being the culmination of the former; he'll mope around the globe apologizing for the latter.
  • Even if e Pluribus Unum was our motto...Obama only wants to stress the "diversity" part. He conveniently forgets about the fact that the unity is that key concept: our "melting pot." Obama would rather balkanize us and divide us into groups (remember the Republicans being told to get "in the back?" Remember Obama referring to conservatives and republicans as "our enemies" to the Hispanic gathering? ad nauseum...
I can't wait to hear the convoluted, intellgence-insulting "apology" to be offered by Family Guy's Peter Griffin...er, Obama's press guy Robert Gibbs...

Actually I believe the 2 phrases compared are exact opposites. (and, yess, I do know e pluribus unum is not out motto)

He is ignorant in so many ways on so many subjects, but he continues to look down his nose at us peons, while trying to convince us that diversity is anything but divisive.

This just in:

Our national motto was changed a couple of weeks ago, unbeknownst to most of us.

Something about junk, and having one arrested...not sure of the exact wording...didn't sound Latin...

I always thought our unofficial motto was - Tax! Spend! Tax! Spend! Tax !Spend! - I don't think the great one is ignorant of this one.

Our new national motto is, "nekkid scan, or pat down?"

Or is it, "if you like your health plan, you can keep it?"

Maybe it's, "Who's turn is it to drive the economy into the ditch?"

Or, "We have to pass the bill so you can know what's in it."
