Obama Rehabilitates the Castro Brothers

The Organization of American States is now open to dictatorships.

When President Obama travels to Panama for the 7th Summit of the Americas later this week, expect to be inundated with platitudes about the blossoming of democracy in the region. Don’t believe it. Repression is on the march in the Americas, and U.S. ambivalence is part of the problem....

The OAS has long been ineffective and may need to be disbanded except that it will allow Kerry to give a hug to his longtime friend, pedophile Ortega. In general, however, the communist will rebuff Kerry.

Should the OAS be disbanded? It seems now to exist only to gloss over the systematic denial of human rights throughout Latin America. The OAS, however, has long been considered as a paper tiger. It is difficult to imagine that OAS, for example, would restore freedom of press in Ecuador. The common people of Latin America are not being helped by OAS.

Furthermore, it is expected that Obama will be under pressure to eliminate his recent executive order that sanctions seven Venezuelan individual violators of human rights. Of course, it is obvious that the tyrannical government of Nicolas Maduro will not accept changes to the nature of its regime any more than Cuba will. Yet, this pressure will be applied. If the Obama Administration surrenders to such pressure only for the sake of better relations with Latin American countries, such an action would betray the citizens of those countries that have fallen victims to those regimes.

Most recently Charles Shapiro, a former U.S Ambassador to Venezuela, defined the summit as a Club of Presidents that protect each other without really caring for what is happening in their countries. Shapiro urged President Obama to insist the OAS Democratic Charter be respected.

The circus in Panama is underway. Castro thugs are roaming the streets and physically attacking Cuban dissidents while the Panama police look the other way.

Obama is going to shake hands with Maduro and Raul and then head off to California to shake hands with Charlie Manson.

Obama made a laughingstock of himself again in Jamaica. He said that what we have been doing the last 50 years in Cuba hasn't worked. Now Dean Rusk, Kennedy's Secretary of State, said that we were only trying to stop Cuba from exporting terror.

I suppose that you could say that Cuba has exported terror throughout Latin America and Africa.

And then Obama said that Jamaica and the rest of the world should continue to do what they have been doing--that is, dealing with Cuba.

It seems that what Jamaica and the rest of the world has been doing hasn't been working either but Obama forgot to mention that.

Nothing works with Cuba. They have rebuffed Obama and they used some security thugs to beat up some American citizens in Panama City while the Panama City Police looked the other way. They have told Obama that all they want is some free stuff (you know, put it on a tab, which will never be paid). They refuse to reimburse anyone in the world for what they confiscated in 1959 or before and they refuse to allow the extradition of international terrorists such as Basque terrorists and international criminals who have found safe haven in Cuba for decades.

Shaking hands with Fidel or Raul is like fawning over Joe Stalin or some other mass murderer. The same for Ortega, who is a child molester.

It's not "news" that Washington favors dictatorships CMG. Washington has been installing and defending corporate friendly dictatorships around the world since the late 1800's.

This of course only becomes an "issue" with you when "democrats" are favoring dictatorships.

Oh, Poncho, the Democrats are notoriously bad at foreign policy. And besides, one does feel sorry for Obama having to shake the blood-crusted hand of Raul Castro. And then there is child-molester Daniel Ortega...

Same old script for every "new" intervention. Sounds like you've been practicing it so much over the years you know it by heart now.

Listen closely now while "reality asserts itself".

The reality is that it would take all the water in the Caribbean Ocean to wash the blood off the Castos. They are guilty of crimes against humanity. Obama cannot rehabilitate them unless he wants to align the USA with communist repression.
