I would like to start a discussion to get everyones opinion on this topic. I cant believe the number of internet sites catering to Christian singles looking for a match - its pandemic. I recently read an article where researchers(researching the rise of internet dating services in general) pegged the problem on our culture's erosion of traditional "matchmaking" institutions and advocates such as churches, family members, co-workers, etc... Its kind of interesting that just a few years ago this venue was mostly ridiculed, now it seems to have become the status quo.

I have participated on e-harmony.com for about two months & have met some nice people. This service gives a fairly extensive psychological test and matches you with memebers of the opposite sex based upon 29 key areas (or so they say). In fact, I'm meeting a girl in person this weekend with whom I was matched through the service. It may be worth a shot if you are interested.

I've am currently using a christian dating service. There are no women my age at my church so I tried other avenues to meet people.

I have real phobias about "chat" rooms and dating services. From the abuse of the world.

I would be very interested to be "enlightened" about the new Christian services.

INFORMATION ONLY! I've been happily married for 4 years now. 4 out of 33 ain't bad!

The problem in discussing subjects like this is that the horror stories are the ones that get the most publicity. The positive accounts of people meeting and experiencing happy relationships rarely get mentioned. There's nothing inherently sinful about internet dating services. You just have to be careful and informed. I've heard very good things about e-harmony, by the way, although I haven't tried it yet.

Right! If people listened only to the horror stories about what goes on in churches, then no one would be going. (hey... maybe there IS a link here!)

Everyone should recognize that caution should be taken. People online may not be the same in person. But if someone is careful, I believe online dating services (especially Christian) is a good thing. If I found myself single again, and I wanted another companion, I'd seriously consider these services.
