A Canadian landlord who was fined $12,000 for wearing shoes in a Muslim tenant's home said he felt "humiliated" by the harsh penalty levied by a national human rights tribunal.

In an interview with the Toronto Sun, John Alabi, 52, of Brampton, recounted how he went above and beyond trying to accommodate the Egyptian-born couple who lived in the apartment for two months – just to be slapped with a steep fine for the shoe incident.

A foreign-born friend of mine also doesn't wear shoes in the house.
    When visiting, I remove mine.
Politeness dictates following your hosts preferences.

The renter rather than the owner has the authority in this instance.

So do you think about 2 cents would be enough of a fine?

but unless the tenant was Muslim, you would have never been fined 12k for not removing your shoes.

think there's a lot more to this than meets the eye, such as why it took them over eight months to figure out they were offended, and why did they only rent for two months anyways? It could have had something to do with this:

House of Commons passes anti-Islamophobia motion M-103

the landlord learned his lesson yet? This is the same country that just paid millions to a terrorist that killed an American soldier and Little Justin is set to apologize to him. The landlord is a Christian from Nigeria, wrong country dude.

Previews of coming attractions if President Trump doesn't get re-elected or gets impeached and then thrown out of office.

To be forthright, we have Muslim friends and we always take our shoes off to respect their wises in their own home.

They also ask us to be patient and wait while on occasion they go somewhere in their home to pray to their god.

If anyone is actually interested in the truth, here is the ruling from the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

    CanLII - 2017 HRTO 436 (CanLII)

Absolutely nothing to do with Sharia law. It was a ruling on religious harrassment under the Human Rights Code of Canada.

that's right, there's nothing in "Sharia law" that mandates all Muslims have to remove their shoes, why you see all of them kneeling over blocking the sidewalks in cities. And why condos are overtaking rentals with cases like this one.

Another factor we may be missing is the landlord is from Nigeria. A country which has a lot of sectarian conflict both hot and cold.
