Ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention?

    I guess it all depends on how you look at it. Here you go before the association ordination council, which is technically part of the state convention, which is part of the SBC. If they approve you,you can choose whatever pastor you want to actually do the ordination ceremony.

    Associations and state conventions are technically part of the Southern Baptist Convention?

    I thought that they aren't technically part of the Convention. Aren't they autonomous?


    The SBC website disclaims that the Convention ordains anyone, and declares it is something strictly to be done by a local church.

    Whoever wrote it needs a remedial course in Baptist polity, that's for sure!

    That should never be done and should be soundly condemned. Churches ordain not the cooperative.
