Ostrovsky released by pro-Russian insurgents in Ukraine

MOSCOW – An American journalist who was held by pro-Russia insurgents in eastern Ukraine for several days says he has been released and is in good condition.

Simon Ostrovsky of Vice News told The Associated Press in a brief call Thursday that he had been freed and was heading to Donetsk, the largest city in Ukraine's tumultuous east. He did not give details of his seizure or his release.

Ostrovsky went missing early Tuesday in the eastern city of Slovyansk, where pro-Russia armed men have seized the police station and another government building.

A spokeswoman for the insurgents later said he was being held at a local Ukrainian security service that had been seized earlier.

Vice News said on its website that Ostrovsky is "safe and sound."
Wonder how much the shoot-out between Russian insurgents and the Ukrainian Army earlier in the day had to do with Ostrovsky's release?
Fox News: Russia announces military exercises on Ukraine border amid deadly clasheshttp://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/04/24/at-least-2-dead-in-clash-in-eastern-ukraine/http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/04/24/at-least-2-dead-in-clash-in-eastern-ukraine/

DONETSK, Ukraine – Russia's defense minister on Thursday announced new military exercises along the Ukrainian border just hours after Ukrainian troops killed at least two pro-Russia insurgents in eastern Ukraine.
Both sides are escalating the situation, increasing the number of troops along both sides of the border and scheduling additional military training exercises in the region, also on both sides of the border.
