Pastor Mark Hale of Manville, N.D. Sentenced for Lacey Act Violation

Hale illegally shot a bull elk inside the park north of Medora on Sept. 7, 2016. Hale was hunting along the park fence when he shot an elk which had jumped into the park. Hale then saw a larger trophy elk within the park and shot through the fence, killing that elk as well. Hale returned with a game cart and and tried to retrieve only the trophy elk.

That's not very sporting. I didn't think you could call a mulligan on elk.

He was let off too easy. If it were permitted, I would have given him jail time.

And leaving an animal to waste, just because a bigger trophy walked by? Inexcusable behavior.
