WASHBURN, Mo. - The minister of a rural Ozarks church, his wife and her two brothers have been accused of molesting young girls from their congregation for years, sometimes as part of a religious ritual, officials said.

The county prosecutor says the Rev. Raymond Lambert, 51, of Grand Valley Independent Baptist Church, repeatedly had sex with two underage girls with the help of his 49-year-old wife, Patty, according to court records.

For 10 years, the pastor told the girls, “We are preparing your body for service to God,” the prosecutor said.

What's the benefit of the highest tree vs one that's not as high?

neck breaks quicker ? no possibility the branch may break before the neck does ? or the branch may bend and allow the condemned to touch the ground with his feet ?

too many details not in the story. are they living in a commune ? or is it the usual meet on Sundays then disperse to individual homes thing. If they're living in communes, were the parents of these kids in on it too ?
because there's no way a kid can be deflowered, bleed, and the parents not know about it. or sodomized, and nobody know about it.

If they're not in communes, were the parents members in this church, too ?

I would wait before hanging somebody high.

On the other hand, there were links to that webpage with equally sordid stories about those in the "ministry".

Just confirms what Jesus said to somebody, "there is no one good but God".

It really grieves me that these stories keep coming out and that far too many of them involve "Baptist" ministers. The public often does not understand, as we on this list do, that there are many varieties of Baptists, and that in fact there is no patent on the term, so that all kinds of crazies may start a gathering and call it a Baptist church. In the minds of many people, all Baptists have become suspect when there are so many stories about sexual misbehavior, child exploitation, financial shenanigans, and sexism. Read the FBC Watertown NY blog to see how the public responds to us.

I have no idea what to do about it, and continue to notice that there is an intimate link between religion, power, and sexual acting out.
