If he were a believer and posting on this board, he would have said:

"what we have here is a failure to communicate"....(Cool Hand Luke).

OK, so at the risk of getting feathers ruffled, what was so great about the man ? His charity work ? The fact that he gave millions to people less fortunate ? I know he was a great actor, but he supported every left-wing cause there ever was, and as much as I hate to see this happen (my family has lost 6 people so far, this year), let's be careful with our praise, please ? Paul Newman made us think with our hearts, and this is against scripture. Even his movies promoted many of the lifestyles & priorities that scripture warns against.

I apologize for the first sentence, I don't know how to reword it.

Was he a Christian ?

One might asume that Paul Newman was of the Jewish religion although he was only half Jewish. I thought he was a great actor and maybe he did portray a rebelous sort in some early movies but it was nothing that was glorified. Paul Newman must have had gasoline running in his veins because of his love for racing cars, I guess he could have lived to be a 100 if he hadn't ran out of gas.

Maybe you should have kept your mouth (or keyboard) shut if you could not say anything nice about Paul Newman. It would not hurt you to ignore a thread, would it?

Paul Newman had charity as we live in this world of 10,000 apologists to just one for charity if that made him a left winger, then I say we need more like him.

Cool Hand Luke a movie based on one of the Gospels if you really look and listen really close.

Gods speed Paul Newman as you come down the straight away to recieve the checkered flag.

You will be missed Great American

Isn't there such a thing as freedom of speech? Why couldn't you have just ignored his comment?

I can't help but remember his first film :"The Silver Chalice"from 1954.It was a crazy movie. In one memorable part a woman strokes his face and says :"Ah peach fuzz!" Needless to say Newman thought it was a stupid movie for more than that dumb scene.

Is that metaphor supposed to suggest that he was a saved person?I'm sorry;but that's kind of tacky.

I do not know anything about Newman's faith, but the fact that he and Joanne Woodward were so devoted to one another for so long is a good counter-testimony to what has passed for marriage in Hollywood for so long.

Kind of lioke Johnny Cash & June Carter.

One thing, if charitable donations make you praiseworthy, I expect a lot of praise when Limbaugh & O'Reilly die.

But that won't happen.

Not here, anyways.

I remember him saying he was amazed that he survived his drinking, smoking, & fast cars.
